Up until recently, my expanded 300 GB series 1 tivo has been doing fine. But about a month ago I switched to the Verizon service with mega channel choices (at least a hundred not counting those I've "removed").

After this past Friday's service connection, I'm having these problems:
1) A console lockup during the first service download
2) Inability to search by title. After selecting any letter, including Z, there are no programs available.
3) Tivoweb fails to start (it fails with cannot allocate memory)

I don't recall what I picked for my swap space. But it was at least 200 MB and no more that 256 MB. Is this an indication that I need to increase my swap memory space? Initially I focused on getting a green screen. So once I was passed the green screen failure, I thought I was in the clear.

Thanks.

I'm doing a manual daily call at the moment. But I expect that after this completes, my problem will be solved.

Unexpectedly, I was not getting a green screen from my incorrect set up. But after I had patched the LBA kernel, created the 300 GB swap, and ran the mkswap (the default tivo version) I never ran the "swapon" command. Who knows what I was thinking. I guess with no green screen because of a lack of swap, I figured my troubles were over.

For the record, with 436 channels, you'll need a bit of swap. Not a ton, but some.
