Fios DVR's?

I'm in a bit of a bind right now, and I'm hoping those of you that have Fios DVR's will be able to help me out. I will be relocating to the Dallas area in a couple months, and if I've done my research correctly, I'll be able to get Fios internet/tv. Now what I have to figure out is, if I should try out the Fios DVR's or go with the Series 3. Obvious reasons to try out Fios' is the price, and wait for the S3 to drop in a year or so. But are the DVR's crap like most cable co's? How is the functionality? I'm will to put the money down on a S3, but if the Fios DVR is respectable, I could hold off for a price drop.

The Motorola QIP6416 is the DVR that Verizon Fios uses. While it has a few features I'd like to see in Tivo (like the ability to watch TV while accessing the menu list), it is overall a piece of junk. It randomly misses recordings, even if they appear in the "To Do" list. It's limited to 160GB of space. The interface stinks.

Basically, I'm getting the S3 as soon as humanly possible.
