Hi All,

Haven't seen any mention of this issue yet...

Just got my KDS-60A2000 and have it hooked up to my HR10-250 with HDMI and am getting a small pop up on the left side bottom of my screen that says "Unsupported audio signal. Check your device output."

I believe that the Sony is getting the audio that's built into the HDMI cable and doesn't know what to do with it. I turned off the speakers on the KDS, but still get the message.

Any fixes for that?

That audio on the HDMI cable is probably encoded Dolby Digital, and the Sony TV probably does not have a decoder for that. Pretty common. Best fix is to run audio from the HR10-250 directly to your amp. Then check for a way to turn the TV audio off, which may stop that message from appearing on the screen.

Yeah, I do have an optical cable going to my decoder, and I have the Sony speakers turned off completely. Doesn't look like I can avoid that message...

I have a Sony GWIV that's two years older and two generations earlier and have never had one hint of an issue with HDMI/HR10, on either input (the KDS handles HDMI similarly, with one input straight and one input with a baseband option). It works flawlessly for both audio and video, in every configuration. Do you really think Sony would improve the models by screwing up HDMI handshake? (I'm a little jealous of your KDS, BTW :)...those suckers are beee...youtiful!).

I had my HDMI output on the HR10-250 was bad so I got it replaced on my extended warranty. Hooked up via HDMI only to the KDS-60A2000 and the audio is fine. no message on any chcannel including OTA ATSC. Have you tried both HDMI inputs on the TV? Mine comes up on Video 6.

I didn't know that, nor do I recall seeing that in the manual (which sucks anyways). That's great info to know. I will try the 2nd HDMI input sometime this weekend.

But I could see Sony dropping the Dolby Digital decoder to save $$$.

Haven't regretted buying the KDS for one second. It's truly amazing.

Ok, just tried the other HDMI. I had it in video 7, switched it to 6. Still getting the message.

Also, when I cycle through inputs with the "TV/Video" button on the remote, one of the inputs is the antenna even though it's not being used. Anyone know how to disable that input?

If you find an answer, let me know. I have the same setup with the same problem. I think the problem is that the Sony can't decode 5.1 audio. I've got my HT equipment in the closet until my stand is built, so I just ran the HDMI into the tv. I could only get rid of the message when turned off Dolby Digital on the HR10-250. Thats OK for now, while all I've got is the tv for sound, but that isn't going to cut it when I get my surround sound back.
