OK. Ernesto threw a bunch of water at the DC area this weekend. (Un)fortunately for me, I was in Charleston, WV with my wife's family so I didn't actually deal with the weather. But, I know that the power went out at least once since I had to reset my wife's SUPER sensitive alarm clock.
Monday might I was flipping around and thought, "there are some things on the HD-tivo that I haven't watched yet, let's check out the new Fox shows before I have too many to catch up on."
I flipped over to my HD Tivo and Fox was dead. I checked the other HD channels and they were fine. I chalked it up to rain-fade/Fox was tinkering. I set a "backup" record for Fox that night on my SD Directivo and went along my way.
I checked Fox tonight and found the same thing. I thought it was odd and for some reason decided to check to see if Fox was coming in on the ATSC tuner in the TV.
It was.
I checked the signal strength on my TV and had Fox coming in around 50-60... not great but totally servicable. Actually no dropouts even.
I checked the signal strength of Fox on the HDTivo and it is at 30-40... WHAT!
The other HD channels have a live ATSC strength/HDTivo ATSC strength difference of 5-10. This is as much as 30!
So NOTHING changed in my setup. Nothing appears to have been zapped (like the mythical Fox input) It's just Fox that isn't coming in anymore. How could that happen? I have had Fox setup from Day One (I have some serious "24" obligations.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Did anyone in the Burke area of Northern VA notice lightning? Could a crack of lightning shaken my house SO MUCH that my antenna in the attic swiveled just out of Fox's LOS?
Has anyone else noticed problem's with Fox in DC?
How many antenna can you put together before you start having problems?
Can I keep daisy-chaining signal combiners? I may make a diamond of UHF antennaes to put upstairs.
