Actually, I've had the unit for a few months and enjoy it. However w/ TV viewership on the increase in our household this fall, I'd like to ask a couple of questions:
1. I've watch many shows while recording another - can two record at the same time (if I'm not watching a different channel)?
2. I've set the system to record an upcoming show or do a season pass - works great. But I never tried to record something that doesn't have a set ending, for example a football game. So what's the best way to record this? For example, let's say a game should last from 1-4 but because of overtime, it goes to 4:30. Will the unit keep on recording until it is done? Does D* send a signal down to stop the recording?
Doesn't look like there's a way to set a season pass to record all of one team's games, correct? You need to setup a recording session for each game as I see it.
Thanks for helping!

1. Yes you can record two things at once.
2. You can set a padding on the recording to pad time at the end. It will definitely not record the end on it's own.

You create a wishlist to do this. With a wishlist, you can record all of your team's games, regardless of the date, time, and channel they are on.
In recent versions of the Tivo software, season pass recordings and wishlist recordings are stored in their own folders. You would have all House episodes in one folder which would list all titles in order by date with their episode name. For wishlists, you'd have one folder dedicated to all games of your favorite team, listing all games in order by date with their title, i.e. Redskins vs. Cowboys.
Unfortunately, the H10-250 uses a rather ancient version of the Tivo software which lacks most of the usability advancements and performance improvements made by Tivo in the past three years. All the "6.3 upcoming" threads you see on this forum are about a more recent version of the Tivo software that is supposed to be coming to the H10-250.

But if the game ran late and took 3:30 you'd miss the last 30 mins, so you'd need to pad the recording.
[oops.. you were just responding to that last question]

i take zero chances when it comes to recording football. all games that i record get an additonal 90 min at the end. if the game shows a 3 hr block, mine will record for 4 1/2 hrs. if it's a 3 1/2 hr block, i still set it for 90 extra minutes. haven't missed an ending yet (knocking on wood).

All the Sunday Ticket channels record for 4.5 hours I think.
MLB records for 6 hours.
I HATE missing the end of a football game.. and I HATE missing extra innings on a baseball game.
MOST of the time they won't record anything after the signal goes off (Sunday Ticket and Extra Innings) - you're always going to have a signal on a regular channel.

There is no such thing as a 3-hour NFL game anymore yet the networks continue to schedule their Sunday night programs as if they did. I have all but stopped recording anything on either Fox or CBS on Sunday nights since they can't seem to be honest about their schedules. We all know the games will overrrun their time slots but yet they continue to schedule shows from 7PM on like there was never a problem.

There is no such thing as a 3-hour NFL game anymore I've seen an NFL match last less than 3 hours, once that I remember. There was a pre-season disaster a couple of weeks ago, it lasted 2:54. I always pad football games by 1 hour after missing the last 17 seconds of a game with a 1/2 hour pad. (Where in the most exciting and pivotal action happened in those 17 seconds.)

And if you're like me and don't give a hoot about "PRO" football (college only), then be sure to pad The Simpsons and every other FOX show on Sunday nights. They'll never start on time.
