Because of trees, I have to use 3 dishes to see all 3 satellites. I have the correct multiswitch, Sat C block converter...etc. Just need to get up in the attic and run RG6, etc. My question is, can I just hook up my H10-250 to the 101 satellite and my OTA antenna and activate with out a problem until next week when I can run the cable? I understand the the only HD that I will receive will be OTA.

Thanks, Bill

Yes you can. I do it that way. Just don't tell D* CSR or they will want to send someone to your house to do the installation.

It will work just fine. To setup any DirecTV receiver all you need to see is the 101 satellite. Make sure to set it up to use a round dish until you get the other lines run.

How can you set up two (or even three) DirecTV dishes so that you can get all three sats? How do you combine the signals?

Multiswitch.

That's their sole purpose, combine signals from multiple satellites.

One way is by using a "Sat C" kit, which included a special, single output LNB and a combiner, and installing on one dish which is pointed at the Sat C satellite. You then take the Sat C output and combine with the Sat B LNB on a second dish.

This gives you 2 coax outputs, which you then send to a 4X multiswitch and connect the 2 outputs from the Sat A (3rd )dish. Four coax inputs total and the multiswitch doesn't know/care where they came from.

Thanks for the replies... this may be something I have to look into.

Where can you obtain this "Sat C" kit?

Solidsignal seems to have one, but they want $43 for it. I got mine from Directv for I think just shipping (Like $8). Call Directv and ask them-worse that can happen is they can say no, and you're no worse off.

I got my sat c kit here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270024619730&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=270011856311&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CategoryProximity&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget)

It says it won't work with a single dish, but it will as long as you also have dishes for 101 and 119.

My problem is that I can't get Satellite B, which is at 119.

Is there any way to get the old, round dish w/ a single LNB to access 119 amd combine that with my MultiSatellite dish that has very strong signals on 101 and 110?

Nope, you'll need to use three 18" dishes. Here's how ....

I don't think it's possible using the oval 3-LNB Phase III dish because the three satellite signals are combined in the Phase III's internal multiswitch. Using 3 18" single LNB dishes allows you to combine their signals using an external multiswitch.

Here's what you'll need ....
(3) Single LNB 18" round dishes (pretty cheap on eBay these days)
(1) "Sat C Combiner Kit" (getting hard to find on eBay, but call DirecTV first)
(1) 4-input multiswitch (e.g. Terk BMS58)

Note that the SatC Combiner Kit, which contains a special LNB and combiner, is required because of the unique way the 110-deg SatC transponders are combined with the 119-deg SatB transponders.

With each dish aimed at the appropriate satellite, and the special SatC LNB mounted on the 110-deg dish, here's how to connect everything ....

* 101-deg/SatA 2-outputs connect to two inputs on multiswitch
* 1 output from 119-deg/SatB LNB connects to 3rd input on multiswitch
* 1 output from 119-deg/SatB LNB is combined with the output from the special 110-deg/SatC LNB using the supplied combiner.
* Output of combiner feeds 4th input on multiswitch

Then you're good to go. You've essentially created your own Phase III dish using three 18" dishes, SatC Kit, and a multiswitch.

Good luck.
