View Full Version : Annoying Problem with Channel Listings for NFL Games

Am I missing something? Or is it impossible to set a Season Pass to record all NFL games using the HR10-250?

I don't think it was like this last season. But this season all NFL games have the title "Dolphins @ Steelers" and the description "Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers". This makes it impossible to set a Season Pass for all NFL games because the titles are so specific.

My recollection is that last season games were titled "NFL Football" with a description "Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers".

Does anyone know why this changed? And does anyone know how to get it fixed? (beyond calling the usually useless CSRs at DirecTV). When I was with ReplayTV, they had an email address that you could email channel listing problems to. And they were usually responsive.

With all of the problems in the world, this one ranks near "the cupholder in my car is not in a convenient location". But it would be nice not to have to set up recordings for each week's NFL games.

Thanks.

Brian

PS- The same problem exists for MLB games. But since people usually only record games for one team, it's not as much of an issue there.

NFL ST since 1996

Yes, it was like this last year - and every year as far back as I can remember. There are instances where just "NFL Football" shows up in the channel banner (e.g. Super Bowl) but, for ST, it's always been "Team A @ Team B". Can you imagine how inefficient it would be to see 13 lines of just "NFL Football" in the Channel Guide, and then have to go to each one to see who's playing? As for calling to complain, I wouldn't waste your time.

The only change I've noticed these past couple years is the NFL Network logo in the Channel Banner instead of the NFL shield. Bad move...

Which games are you trying to record? I've always used a Title Wishlist to record the Dolphins' games. Never a hiccup.

I suppose it's a matter of taste. My old ReplayTV did it this way and it actually worked quite well.

I can see your point if you have the NFL Season Pass package. But most people don't. Most people watch their locally broadcast NFL games each weekend without an exclusive focus on one team (i.e.- Wish List).

So if you just want to record the Sunday 1pm, 4pm, 8pm and Monday 8pm games each week, you have to search through all of the channel listings to find them. And you have to repeat this exercise every week during football season. Given the speed of the HR10-250 interface, this can be a somewhat painful experience. This seems less efficient to me than just being able to set a Season Pass(es) and being done with it. ;)

The problem this week is that the guide describes some of the SD channels as PPV , and won't allow any recording to be made. Check out channels 705, 706 or 707 as examples.

I can't tell which is the HD version and which is the SD version.

The Channel Guide won't fill up with the ST schedule until later this week. The HD games were on Channels 719-733 last year.
