I have the HR10-250 and was told by my DirecTV installer that I could not receive or record HD local broadcasts on it. So, wanting to record locals (HD or not) I also had him install the second dish to get locals in SD. Later I found out that he was mistaken and I could in fact attach an antenna to the unit and receive/record locals in HD.

When I did that and reran the set-up for sat/off-air I lost the ability to tune in my locals off the satellite. I can still get locals on my other TVs with plain old DirecTV receivers, but I cannot get them on my HDTivo. I get the error message "Searching for signal on satellite <insert satellite number here>". I disconnected the antenna and reran the set-up for satellite only and I still cannot receive the local channels.

This wouldn't be an issue, except one station here is still broadcasting low power so their OTA signal is unreliable. It also happens to be FOX and with football season quickly approaching, I would like to get this resolved as quickly as possible!

Any ideas as to what caused my locals to disappear? Any ideas on how to get them back? Thanks for the help.

Unplug, wait 30 sec. and plug in.

Try running satellite autoconfiguration since you have 2 dishes.
Go thru your menus to the satellite menu and there should be an option that says autodetect, or autoconfig, something like that.
Run that setup and your locals should come back.

Sateite locals have a habit of dissapearing sometimes, you may need to get D* to reauthorise them. I think that's extension 721 if you ring up D*.
