I am a student at Radford University and I cannot get my Tivo to work. The wireless network on campus does'nt require a WEP key, its just a simple logon. The error I am getting is

The DVR could not connect to your wireless access point (N10)

Verify that your access point is operational, your wireless network settings are properly configured, and that you have sufficient signal strength at this location.

I know I have sufficient signal strength since I am on the wireless network on my computer. The only problem I could see is there are multiple wireless networks locally named the same thing "ruwireless". It may be getting confused on which one to use. Can anybody help? Also, I've already tried to use a phone line, but I don't think that will work since we have to have a calling card and dial numbers to call long distance. Please help!

If your campus network requires a "logon", then TiVo can't use it. The best I can suggest is to use "Internet Connection Sharing" and have it connect through your PC. You'd probably have to connect a wireless access point to the Ethernet port of the PC to allow the TiVo to use it.

I am battling with a similar dorm room problem, although I have a hard wired network, all of the IP addresses and the Tivo has allegedly been registered on my university (LMU) network. Still no luck. I get the N14 error message (Tivo not answering). Any thoughts?

My dorm has a hard wired connection which I have to register each of my computer's network cards to each port that I want to use.

Here is what you should be able to do:

With router: If you have wired or wireless router, you should be able to set up your router to broadcast the network card ID to the school's network. Once you do that, you can anything that you want to the router without problem

Without problem: You need to enable Internet Connection Sharing on your pc and then use a second network card (wireless or wired) to connect to your TIVO. In effect, your computer becomes the router for your TIVO.

Word of caution: either option is probably against the school's rules and can result in you losing internet or worse....
