View Full Version : TiVo not activating

I activated service on my TiVo Series 2 DT about 17 hours ago. I checked on the TiVo web site and it says my account is in good standing for my TiVo, yet when I go into the account information on the TiVo it says its not activated. I've done a forced call about 20 times already (as well as at least one reboot) without any success. It does download new guide data and I have the latest version of the TiVo software on it (the one with Kids Zone). I called customer support last night (about 4 hours after activating service online) and they said to keep forcing the download and it will eventually get the information.
Like I said, 17 hours later and still no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

Did you double and triple check that you entered the TSN correctly when you activated it?

Is everything okay now or is there still a problem?
Are you checking with the TSN on the back of the Tivo (or on the packaging) or the TSN that's listed on the system information screen?

I called at 10 AM when they opened. The message said there would be a 35 minute wait time and the moment the message ended, I got a real person. As it turned out my account did not have my middle initial, while my credit card did. As soon as she put in my middle initial she said my account went from "red" to "green" in their system. I then did a "forced call" and my account updated.
My only beef is why didn't the support person I talked to at 6PM yesterday catch this? If he did, I could've been fully up and running yesterday.

I just feel badly about the death of my old TiVo. It lasted almost 3 years and 5 months. Yesterday morning it locked up and rebooted only to get stuck at "almost there." For a few months off and on it was making a strange noise. I'm pretty sure the hard drive died on it, but it was easier for me to get a new one than go through the hassle of getting a drive from Weaknees, so 45 minutes after declaring it officially dead, I had its replacement.
If only it lasted another 16 days... :(
