Finally saw the end of that crap fest thanks to FOX REALity channel airing the marathon of episodes today...
I started not to waste the time on it, but I rewired stuff just enough to output the show over onto one of my PCs so I could air it as background noise while playing games on my XBox 360.
Anyway, the big reveal at the end went about as I would have expected. (I won't detail it right here incase anyone still hasn't seen it and wanted to, but I spoilerized the thread so that anyone else can give the secret away later if they want).
The episodes never really seemed to get any better and it doesn't surprise me that FOX never bothered to bring it back, though if they had aired it in the right time slot I suppose it would have done ok numbers.
I do give them credit for filming the whole thing and following through until the end. They could have cut the whole thing short given the lack of viewers and failing ratings...

Let it die. It deserves its peace. It was a really bad one.

How in the hell did they come up with $550k to give the final two? Must have broke even or even took out a loan to pay them.

I think you're math is off by about $100k, but your point is well taken.
I'm not sure how they came up with the money to pay the "winners", but I don't know anything about the math behind reality TV. I'm sure that some advertising was sold in advance of the show and that money went towards things like paying the actors that were involved and perhaps towards the prize money.
Worst case I would guess the network treated it as a loss and will write it off as best they can.

The show had promise--the premise was great--but the buildup to the secret boss was a disaster. It being a chimp was obvious. I would have thought it would have been Ivana Trump or somebody like that.
The second knock against it was that the contestants were idiots and I think some of them may have been handpicked actors.

Oh nooo! Am I the only one who laughed my butt off at this show? I thought it was a riot!! Ok, so the big reveal at the end was a little predictable, but it was still funny.

Not a clue.

Nope, the math was right unless I'm doing math wrong too (which, at this hour...1am, is entirely possible, lol). It was originally $250,000 and they added $100,000 to that = $350,000. Then the check for 2nd for $200,000...It's been a while since high school math, but I believe that equals $550,000.
Anyway, as bizarre and ridiculous as this show was, I thoroughly enjoyed it (along the same lines as enjoying its predecessor, "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance"). I'm so glad that FR decided to air the unaired episodes. ;0)

P.S. I still almost expected it to be Donald Trump at the end, but it was close enough. ;0)

 Crap. I missed this again. I had WMP problems when it was on the web so I missed it then too. I guess I'll never get to see the end of this show.
Hey, maybe they'll put it on DVD! ;)

One more thought I had about this...since Iocorp wasn't real, do the people who put in orders for merchandise still get their shipments? And if so, who gets paid for those orders??
Same thing with the things people bought outright during the course of the show...where does that money go to? Hey, maybe that's where they got some of the extra funding to pay the winners...

I am one of the few who wanted to see the entire run of the show. Glad to know who the "boss" finally was.

I believe they ran a disclaimer at the end of each episode that said they refunded the people's money for any purchases they made as part of the show (maybe not the selling soup episode because the people did get what they paid for).
I remember they did make a point to mention that producers took back the chickens in the "Trade a chicken" challenge and compensated the people who made the trades for the chickens. I assume that was to avoid any animal cruelty complaints because the players traded to chickens to places where the animals would be slaughtered.
Speaking of the trading chicken challenge, I thought that was probably the most creative challenge any of these types of shows has ever done. Anyone can build a marketing campaign for a new flavor of Crest toothpaste, but it takes real salesmanship to find a market for something that most people would have no interest in and be able to convince the person to give you something of greater value in exchange for it.
It's like the guy who traded a red paperclip for a house (sure, it's a house in a small town in Saskatchewan, but he's mortgage free and has a hell of a story to tell): http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/

In most reality shows, the money doesn't actually get paid out unless the show actually airs. Did they really get that much money? I can understand the presentation being filmed, but do we really know they were really paid?
I thought it was funny when it was on, I haven't seen the unaired episodes yet.
