Need Help...Please

Did a quick search but didn't find anything pertaining to this problem.

I am temporarily staying at my inlaws. They have Dish Network. We are staying in an upstairs bedroom that has the dish but not the satellite box. The TV needs to stay on channel 73 to receive Dish Network programming. My Tivo needs to be on channel 3 or 4.

Any suggestions on how I can work around this? I know I will need to program the Tivo to record like normal, but I will also have to program Dish Network to change the channel at the appropriate time using their reminders and timers.

I have a Series 2 TiVo if that makes any difference.

I am not positive, but I think that in order for a TiVo to function with a satellite provider, it needs a box to interface with. I do not think there is a solution to your issue here with your setup without adding a satellite box.

That sounds like some sort of AV Cast setup.

This sounds like how our hospital is set up. Hundreds of TVs with Dish programming, and no satellite boxes in sight....Thanks for the info greg_burns.

If it is AV Cast, I think there is a way to transmit the infrared signal through the cable wire back to the satellite box...

Edit: er... wait. Looks like you can transmit the Tivo's remote commands thorugh the cable wire back to the room with a Tivo + Satellite receiver. (I think)
