I'm using tivo series2 with version 7.3.1. Tivo reboots quite often shortly after I turn on my digital stb connected to it. First, the image on screen would freeze for about 8 seconds, then tivo reboots itself.
This happens at least 3-5 times a week. After about a month, I decided to unplug the ac power for 1 hour then plugged it back in. This didn't help at all  the older version doesn't exhibit this kind of behavior. Thumbs down for 7.3.1
PS Also, tivo is very unresponsive to commands from the remote. Up to a 1 minute delay sometimes

Right after the latest system software upgrade (7.3.1) my Pioneer 57h DVR started having the same problems:
Freezing during playback
Blank screen
The only solution has been to unplug the machine and wait for the reboot. Since I see that others are having the same problem, I am wondering if TiVo will address this issue soon.

Are these boxes using a network adapter? If so, which one?
I know of a specific issue with the TiVo Wireless Adapter and a computer running a chat client that runs the Bonjour protocol (Trillian Pro on Windows, Fire or iChat on a Macintosh). In those cases, disabling only the Bonjour protocol on only the chat client resolves the issue.

using a wireless adaptor, siemans speedstream usb 802.11bIt's not on the list at All Wireless Network Adapters (http://customersupport.tivo.com/knowbase/root/public/tv2184.htm) and it hasn't been unusual in the past for unsupported adapters to result in reboot behavior.
You might try leaving the adapter disconnected for a few days and see if the rebooting behavior subsides.

I'm having the same problem with my Humax DRT800 running 7.3.1. Randomly, the video will freeze for 8 to 10 seconds and then come back for 2 or 3 seconds. Then the unit reboots. Interestingly enough, if I catch it just right and rewind the video a little bit in that 2 or 3 seconds after the video freeze, it seems to prevent the reboot. Of course, that doesn't help when it's unattended and it reboots in the middle of a recording.

I am having the same problem. I have a Netgear WG111 attached and the box seems to reboot itself at least once a day. I only got it for Christmas last year so it shouldn't be having hard drive failure already, should it? I am also nearly constantly transferring shows to my PC, so could that have something to do with it?
