I liked that they mostly took a little break from the ongoing story with this episode, and did a "Monster of the week" kinda thing... I just hope they don't do it too often. ;)

At first I thought maybe there would be a twist to the opening sequence, that the girl happened to be a vampire caught by a serial killer.

Have they mentioned anything about Shen's background before?

Have they mentioned anything about Shen's background before? At least this was a real monster, a psychotic vampire. I wouldn't mind a MotW if they keep doing it like this, with a healthy mix of ongoing plot. I feel that was one of the things BtVS did so well.

I also thought that would be the twist, but I'm almost always glad when I'm wrong, because that means the writers are keeping a step or two ahead.

I don't remember anything about Shen's background before, but with all of the plot elements they've added and are now juggling, doing it slowly is a good thing.

Mostly a standalone episode. Still pretty good, although the way Blade killed the White Prince was a little lame. Unfortunately, the fights also showed that Shen is a much better fighter than Blade is. Just a thought, but they may want to allow Blade to dump the leather coat for fights. Between that and all the extra weaponry that they added to his gear, he can't move around very well. Even Wesley dropped some of that stuff for the fights in the movies.

Krista on detox was kinda interesting.

Nice little twist with the bartender being the familiar.

Obligatory scene showing young women expressing their first amendment rights by using contemporary dance in a windowless establishment.

I thought Charlotte (the child vamp) might have been too willing to trust Chase so soon. Should have been more work.

Overall, ok episode. Felt the most 'tv' so far, whereas some of the others had a more 'movie' feel to them.

A solid filler episode I figure this is the calm before the storm of the last few episodes. If charlotte does trust chase it would not surpise me the purebloods all seem pretty damn arrogant. I don't think any of the purebloods see the infected vampires as a threat just as servants to do thier bidding. If marcus does get an attack off I think it will completely blind side the pureboods. The show has done a masterfull job of interweaving an interesting plot so far. I full expect the last few episodes to be pretty damn good.

I liked it! The show has improved a lot since the 1st episode. I agree that Charlotte's trust in Chase seems really naive. Time will tell.

I wouldn't trust Chase as far as I could throw her. Charlotte shouldn't and neither should Marcus.

I agree, and that's part of the reason that the show is good!
