I look at msnbc every night between 7 & 9 Pm and lately there is constant outage from storms in the area. I taped the Us open tennis on Usa 242 and it was perfect while I couldn't watch MSNBC. I know its probably a different satellite but why is one effect so much while the other isn"t ??

Both are on the same satellite but probably on different transponders. I had the similar problem years ago when I started to lose a couple of the HBO channels. The LNB in my dish was going bad. I replaced it for a few dollars and about 10 minutes time. Everything worked fine after that

Before spending any money, I would bo basic troubleshooting like making sure the connections are dry and not corroded.

I was having problems with losing some channels with just a bit of rain and found that the connections were getting wet and going bad. I moved the connection out of the weather and haven't had a problem since (unless it's absolutely pouring outside).

Seems to be OK in the morning. It's generally like i said it happens after about 7 PM. It generally is damp in the AM. The last week or so there have been storms in the general area. We don't always get hit but they are all around us. Thats why I though it was the storms but I'll check the connections . Thanks for the quick reply.

Same thing happened to me years ago.

If there is a crack in your lnb or in a connection somewhere, then any time moisture is present you can lose some/all channels. I had a friend whose tv worked great at all times when the sun was out, but as soon as the sun went down or dew began to build up outside it would seap into the LNB and knock everything out. Didn't matter if it was raining or not, but as the as the sun came out and the moisture evaporated, problem solved.

I did find one loose connection and there seemed to be an improvement last night. Tonight should be a good test with the approch of Ernesto over the Philly area
