I've claimed my DirecTivo receivers have been restarting themselves for years, everybody told me I was imagining it.
I have my 2 main DirecTivo receivers (That I use most often), an HR10-250 and an R10 plugged into my UPS. When I woke up this morning, the HR10-250 lost it's clock in the corner, and it's 30 second skip. The R10 was fine. I checked the UPS activity on my computer (I just the computer monitor activity, the computer isn't actually using the UPS for backup), and it didn't show ANY activity through the night. I did check to make sure it didn't have 6.3 lol, but of course it didn't.
Any ideas why the receivers would restart themselves?

So only the HR10-250 rebooted, right? Not sure why, but sometimes it just happens. Probably nothing to worry about.

I have the SD-DVR40 w/6.2 and it started to reset it self on Saturday, almost every few minutes. I called Directv an dthey indicated that a new software release was sent out for the R15 the past couple of days. Tier 2 support indicated that the best approach would be to reset the whole unit, which would mean all my recording would be lost. However, it only appears to reset if I have the SAT cables connected. It works fine when th ecables are not connected, so I am able to watch the previously recorded shows. I'm not sure what I will do. They said if resetting th ebox does not do it, thwy will sen dme out a new one. However, it might be a R15, who knows. The boix is original, other than the HD which was upgraded from a 40G to 120G.

Anybody else having this problem?

The reason it reboots when you have the satellite lines connected is that the DirecTiVo is keeping a 30 minute buffer and the 30 minute buffer is hitting the bad spot in the drive. See

I've talked about this before, and everybody pretty much told me I was crazy. It was ONLY the HR10-250 that reset. The R10, that was plugged into the same UPS, was fine. I'm the only one who deals with them, so it didn't accidently get unplugged or anything.
