At least I know where the old boss went (other show mondays). I was wondering how he got on 2 things at once.
I dont like the new girl but i expect they dont want us to. I"m also tired of the same story that the new boss sucks but then turns around to be your friend. Just wish they dragged that out a few more eps is all.
The dental record thing ...i guess i'm jaded since they did that on (wont say the show) last season. New ideas sure are hard to come by.
Did they change bones' hair a bit?
How ironic that someone 'gets what they deserve' and that was a pretty good part of the show. The grave scene was right in tune with her alright. I wonder if this woman even knows she's supposed to be uncomfortable whens someone hits on her etc? :)

I agree, but I was happy they didn't drag it out over a few eps. I'm glad they got past the annoying "tough new boss" thing quickly.

I think I would enjoy this show a lot more when I can just stop wondering about things like why Dr. Brennan is allowed to go on a stakeout and assist in the questioning of a heroin dealer.
Other than that, it was great having it back on the air. :) I like the ongoing mystery of where Dr. Brennan's father is.

or why does the fbi even get involved in certain things? Or her going to non-bones things (as you said with dealers).
All she needs is a carry permit then we'd have a show!

One of the running jokes on the show is how Booth won't let Bones have a gun.

I wonder how long before the new boss gets crosswise with the team and learns who the biggest financial contributor to the institute is? :)
If I recall correctly, it happened in an earlier episode, and rank was pulled.

I don't remember rank being pulled, but there were at least two episodes where I thought it might happen. If I remember, it took quite a lot of research for Booth to discover who the big financial contributors were. He has covered his tracks well.
When did she become a part of the FBI crime lab? I thought she was only to be used in special cases.

I hate that Brennan, time and time again is presented as a woman who cannot seem to grasp basic cultural practices, such as speaking to the dead at grave sites. For God’s sake, she’s an anthropologist! Anthropology deals with the social customs and practices of cultures, and while she may not be able to relate to those customs in her own culture (being an out of touch intellectual with some serious social skill issues), she would certainly understand them from an academic/intellectual perspective.

Also, she's supposed to have written a best-selling novel, which pre-supposes that she can create characters that a lot of people can identify with. That's always bugged me.

Is it that Bones is genuinely unfamiliar with the practice of talking to dead loved ones at their graves, or that she just doesn't see any point in it? She's a scientist and rationalist who has buried her emotions very deeply. (Except when she's dancing in her own apartment, apparently.)
As for writing best-selling novels, a lot of them don't show any real understanding of human behavior, either. The characters are just stick figures, driven by greed/lust/revenge, to carry the plot forward.

What really sucks is that her character is in no way like that in the Kathy Reichs novels. Other than "female forensic anthropologist" they seem to have left many of the good parts of the books out.
I hope Reichs is being paid lots of money because the show isn't doing her any favors when it comes to showing her talent. It looks more like Fox wanted to rip off Crossing Jordan than actually make a show based on characters she created. And you know the idea to call her "Bones" orgininated with a bunch of suits around a conference table laughing at their own jokes.

I have a hunch that the Bones they portray doesn't get greed, lust, or revenge, either. I'm not saying novelists automatically have a sense of human behavior, just that the successful ones invariably have a very keen understanding (conscious or sub-) of what their audience wants, and that requires at least a minimal understanding of, well, their audience, at least intellectually.

I don't know about her hair, but they did get a new make-up artist for her. They used to go into post-production to digitally remove bags under her eyes. In a lot of shots she ended up looking like a vampire. She looked much more natural in this episode.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I liked it. It was the first time we saw here in HD, so I rather attributed it to that, but she definitely was not as attractive this season as opposed to last.

The grave scene was right in tune with her alright.
I'm not usually very good at catching continuity errors, but I think there was one, or at least some really bad editing at the grave scene. First Bones is standing in front of the headstone and Booth is standing next to the headstone across from her, and within a split second (they don't show him walking to her) he's standing next to her. Then he's standing closer to her and then he's standing away from her.

I have another issue. Didn’t they say last season that after Brennan's brother left her she had to go into the foster system until her "grandfather" came and rescued her?
