Does anyone remember this show?? This soap opera was probably more enjoyable than anything out there now...

ME, ME! I remember it...and I miss it. I wish they would either come out with DVDs or show it on Soap Net so I could enjoy it from the begin to end. I didn't jump on board with Sunset Beach right at first, so I'd love to see the very beginning.

I hated it because NBC cancelled Another World to put Sunset Beach in its place, and then had the nerve to cancel Sunset Beach a short time later.

(I'm waiting for Soap Net to show "Santa Barbara"! Now THAT was a great show!)

I remember Another World. Middle school was long time ago.

No, "Another World" and "Sunset Beach" were both airing at the same time -- "Sunset Beach" premiered in January 1997, and "Another World" lasted until June 1999, when it was canceled to make way for "Passions." ("Sunset Beach" was then canceled at the end of 1999 to make way for nothing -- NBC returned that time slot to their affiliates.)

I closed-captioned some episodes of "Sunset Beach" during 1999, which is the only reason I remember it -- and even then, only vaguely.

But hey, we got to be introduced to the acting chops of Randy Spelling (yes, another child of Aaron).

At least Susan Ward was a cutie.....

I was about to say, I bet you REALLY hate Passions. I do believe SB lasted a bit longer than AW because my specific memory was hating Passions because it replaced SB!

But I've since come to love Passions...it's the show I love to hate.

I thought that was DOOL.

DOOL is about to turn into a show I'm going to love to LOVE! The new head writer is IN DA HOUSE! And from what I've read, it's going to get good...

That reminds me, I should resurect the Days thread to post some new info :)

I watched SB from beginning to end. A bit outrageous but I guess that is what most soaps are like these days. The whole turkey baster thing was a bit much for me but, otherwise, I enjoyed the show a great deal. Glad they tied everything up in the end.

I started watching Passions a couple of months before SB ended (I had to replace SB with SOMETHING!) and still watch it to this day. Passions is totally a 'love to hate' kind of show for me. I wish I could turn away. Since I missed about the first 6 months of Passions I was happy to see it showing on Sci Fi from the beginning, until they dropped it a couple of months in.

So when someone writes SB, how many people think Santa Barbara, and how many think Sunset Beach?

I wonder if there's rule for deciding on Soap Opera abbreviations! :) :D

Of course, I'm mad at "Santa Barbara" for having replaced "The Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour." :D (Looking back on it from tapes I've seen more recently, that wasn't a particularly good game show, but while it was on, hey, it was a game show I could conveniently watch every day because it was on right when I got home from school.)
