im thinking of getting a new series 2 dual tuner 80-hour tivo in addition to the single tuner 80 hour we have.

heres the DT with rebate info
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1140394006193&type=product&skuId=7713717&tab=6&productCategoryId=cat03021

i was wondering if i was eligible for the rebate, im not sure about the new contract part, it would be a new contract on that tivo box but im not sure if they mean like first time customer.

if i am still eligible for the rebate, would the monthly service fee on our current one be $12.95 and on the dual tuner be $6.95 or will it also be $12.95.

now when i have stuff transfered from our current one to the computer, if i go to watch it on the tivo and it has been deleted from the tivo it has to be transfered from the computer to the tivo, if i have the dual tuner tivo in a different room and plugged into the network and go to watch a show from the dual tuner on the single tuner in the other room will it have to transfer it from one tivo to the other or will it stream it from between the two tivos.

hope all of that was understood well enough for an answer :o

Yes, you are eligible for the rebate. It isn't a "new customers only" thing. Even if it's your fifth Tivo, you are eligible for the rebate. The only requirement is signing a new contract for the Tivo (and of course sending in all the correct paperwork).

If you're paying 12.95/month right now, your current Tivo will automatically change to the multi-service discount once you activate your new Tivo and you'll pay the reduced fee of 6.95/mo. on the old Tivo.

Shows will not stream from one tivo to another. They must be transfered, but you can watch while it is transfering, assuming your network is fast enough.

Yes you are eligible for the rebate, but here's a better deal:

I think it's only good through tomorrow (8/31) though

I wonder...does transferring a grandfather lifetime sub. count towards activation in terms of getting a rebate. I ask this cause there's a lot of speculation the S3 will have a rebate. I wonder if it'll be a rebate that requires activation. If that doesn't work, I wonder if doing so under $6.95 will and maybe cancel after a couple months and then transfer the lifetime over?

No, the rebate says very clearly it must be a NEW contract. Transfers of contracts or grandfathers don't count.

It's cheaper than the best buy price at amazon. It's $214.99 at Amazon.. (minus a9.com's rebate, minus $30 if you get an amazon credit card, and of course minus rebate).

The Best Buy I was at yesterday had a $190 rebate through 9/16/06.
