Hmmm, very disappointed. I was impressed with most of Ryan's performances of late.
Did you see Tommy's face when the crowd was booing? Kinda like, "oh...I think we made the wrong decision."
Although, I was glad that Magni was safe....he has the best voice of the bunch.

Statistically speaking, just because Mimic .. I mean Magni was the only one who was never in the bottom three, it does NOT mean he automatically was the person with the most votes. Someone could have been low and then shot up overnight to pass him. Stop trying to do math, Brooke. :D
Is it just me, or were all three performances tonight sub-par? WTF happened to Dilana there? Both she and Storm picked "talky" songs to try to impress the band? Ryan went home because he was clearly fumbling around that stage, but the way Tommy did his little speech, I assumed that tonight was going to be another 2-fer. The performances deserved it.
I found it mildly irritating that the three I like were standing there and three I don't were sitting safely~ I gotta start doing more votes or something :)

Storm seemed to be slipping recently, but tonight she was really impressive.
Dilana's performance tonight showed a great example of that wierd vibrato thing she does with her voice. I wasn't sure how to explain it before, I'd previously tried to compare the sound to Mr. Ed, but tonight it hit me...she sounds like Catherine Hepburn screaming.

As a huge John Lennon/Beatles fan, I'm a little sensitive to what constitutes a good Beatles cover and what doesn't. Patrice's Instant Karma, for example, was completely soulless. While Storm did a decent job with the song, Helter Skelter is not a difficult song for anyone with any power in their voice. All six of them could have turned in equal performances of that tune without much trouble.

Actually, statistically speaking, it would be a good bet that Magni had the highest number of votes. However, it is correct that Magni was not necessarily the highest vote getter because, as you mentioned, someone could have started low and then gotten higher than Magni by the end.
That being said, I suspect that since Brooke DID say that Magni had the highest number of votes (even though her reasoning was NOT sound) that Magni MOST LIKELY had the the highest number of votes. I'm not disappointed in that, but I am surprised.

Dilana's song choice - Worst song I've heard in awhile. You could tell the crowd wasn't into it and it affected Dilanas performance.
I really hope Ryan cuts an album using the piano in most of his songs. He's much better there than hopping around the stage pretending that he is a rock star. Pretty bad rendition of Baba O-Reilly.
Honestly, I think Ryan went home so there would be 2 girls and 2 guys left.
But there are three guys left????
Anyways, ………Lukas with the SN performance. He was pretty good. Though it is clear to me that he lipsynched with a backing track…….why do they do this…..just do it live. Are they worried that people with think the rest of the band sucks and they won’t want to buy CDs and tickets……ooooops....I'm right....I'd rather go see the house band do covers of rocks songs than SN.......but I love the show.
Bottom three……not surprised there….with only 6 left, there will always be someone “good” in the bottom three. Ryan….thought his performance was pretty good. Storm….my girl……..she said she wanted to be in the B3 so she could rock it out….and boy, did she ever. That was great! Though, I do have to say, I think she needed suspenders. Her low-riders were riding a little too low and I think the censors may have missed a blur spot opportunity or two. Oh well. Dilana…..poor song choice. Just too un-SN for me. But…….since she is one of their favs, it didn’t really matter.
Ryan going………not too much of a surprise. They said they felt he was a little uncomfortable at the mic, rather than behind the piano or guitar. You know what, I am more likely to buy a Ryan CD than a SN CD. Good work Ryan. You made a name for yourself.

Dilana BUTCHERED that song! She got halfway through it and forgot the words...and was just bouncing around in front of the band while trying to cover...I was embarassed for her (she got seriously lost).
MitchO, I too felt all 3 performances were sub par tonight...

I did not really watch last night, but more just listened as I worked on the computer. I did not even notice Ryan and Storm's songs as they played in the background. But I certainly noticed Dilana because I suddenly heard one of the most awful sounds I've heard in my life.

I agree all three were bad - The Tommy Hawk could have fell on all three. Dilana showed last night why she shouldn't win from my view point, worst performance ever on RockStar!
I thought it was wierd when Tommy came right out and sacked Ryan - I was waiting for the next chop but the other two just went back to their mates.

Ryan blew it with his fumblings on the stage. He fumbled with the champagne bottle at the beginning, and missed his cue. He fumbled while climbing on the equipment, and missed his cue.
I think he tried all that junk because he got praised for jumping on the piano the previous night.
And the bottom line was that it was a lame rendition of Baba O'Reilly.

Close but no cigar. After hearing the worst singing job in two seasons of Rock Star it hit me like a ton of bricks. Dilana sounds like......
Yoko Ono
All Dilana, I mean Yoko, lovers please come to your therapy session immediately. Horrible job singing, horrible prescence on stage, horrible choice of song. And remember, this was not forced on her, it was her choice for the first time, and she obviously picked this because she thinks she sounds good on it. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
Bloom is off your rose honey: You insulted your fellow competitors, you had a emotional breakdown on TV culminating in you breaking a glass and cutting the head of one of your friends, and then you sang like absolute shat.
Congratulations on having the worst week in reality show history, Yoko.

Even my wife caught that, and she never pays attention to that kind of stuff. Brooke said something like "Supernova featuring Lukas" and my wife said "and apperently a guitarist off stage." It was pretty funny.

And why the hell did she pick it in the first place. I love that song (and the Talking Heads)...but for Supernova? It was almost like she was saying "I give up". Or "I just don't care". Time to go.

Dave Navarro was on Loveline a couple of weeks ago and he was talking about how horribly painful it was to use songs on the show. With all the licensing and permission it's almost impossible to get songs they want. That's why there's so many from some groups (like Nirvana/Hole) and why there are repeats. She might not have liked that song, but it might have been the best she had to choose from.
I guess I don't know what sound Supernova will be going for but I'm with you, I think most of the songs are nothing like what they'll sound like and just aren't appropriate to demonstrate someone's ability to sing with them.

First she's only about 5 feet tall, neither head nor shoulders above anyone.
Second, seems to me to be a bit of a head case - I'd really be surprised if she even makes it to the final two, especially ehen you consider she has no range.

Talk about making excuses!! While they can't just sing any song they want, the list is not a small one. They've probably used 25 different songs already and I bet the list is 3 times that. Christ, Zayra sang a very obscure Blue October song, yet you feel like Psycho Killer was forced on her?
Yoko chose this song because she liked it and because she thought she could sing it well. She was very mistaken.
Jebberwocky!

I may not be the world's worst singer but I'm in that group picture and I think most listners would have enjoyed my version better than Dilana's. It was so painful to both listen and to watch her turn her back on the crowd. Her act is really starting to wear thin.

You should talk to Mr. Navarro. You apparently have more information about the show he's on than he does.
Obscure songs are going to be cheaper and easier to license than popular ones. I wouldn't say the song was forced on her, I think it was the least bad of the songs she had to chose from.

There was nothing wrong with her song choice, just her performance of it.

I don't have more info than the show's host but I can count, can you? How many different songs have been sung this year? Do you think they have sung every song they have got permission to use or do you think there are more on the list? What is your obviously very educated guess as to their list of permitted songs?
They've used the Stones, Beatles, Aerosmith, The Who, Nirvana etc, all very big bands with decent catalogs yet she chose Psycho Killer and absolutly butchered it.
I do know this, David Byrne, who was THE Talking Head, is very controlling about his music, so much so that he has refused to allow his former band mates to use the songs or even tour with any mention of the group. If they were able to use one of his songs I'm going to make a very educated guess that the potential song list is bigger than you think. Not infinite but bigger than you think.
I think the reason we keep hearing the same songs (Nirvana etc) is because the show wants to have songs people know, not obscure Blue October songs.

I think Magni did so well because of his cut head and his humorous plea for votes from various countries. I've never voted, and I don't particularly like him for Supernova, but I almost voted for him after those scenes.

Normally I would agree with you, but rewatch it.
Brooke said (paraphrasing) "for the first time in two seasons we have been told who got the most votes". She doesn't write her own copy, and it was clear that she was reading it word for word.
But I just like Magni and am happy that he got a break. Nice guys don't always need to finish last.
I thought they all stunk up the place last night, as opposed to this weeks performance night where everyone was killer.
I must say that I am really enjoying not being particularly aligned with any of them, unlike last year when a stroke was a distinct possibility every Wednesday night.
I think Toby is the best fit with the band. I also think that whomever they choose will have a short really ride if those song previews are at all typical.
I'm keeping an eye on tour tickets, but unless the House Band does a reversal and actually tours with them, no way is Supernova going to be worth the price of good seats.

Toby or Lukas are the only 2 that have a chance of winning. Dilana is good but there is no way in hell SN lets a chick front the band. Wont happen. Toby is problably th best singer they could choose for their type of music. However Lukas has the performance and look they should be looking for.

Yeah, all three of them were pretty bad last night. But, of the three, the right person went home. Ryan just doesn't have it vocally.
Then again, I don't think Lukas has it either with that puker voice of his. I can't stand to listen to him anymore.
I still think this is Dilana's to win, though Toby has been good these last few weeks while Dilana faltered a bit.
These Supernova songs have been nothing to write home about. Are they going to play exclusively Supernova songs on tour this winter? I hope they bust out some of the stuff from their old bands if they can.
How are they going to do this finale? With four people? I guess it doesn't matter since the winner isn't decided by votes, and they probably already know who it is.

You're free to like Dilana, but this is a little extreme. Is Dilana paying you? She hasn't "dominated" anything. This week alone Magni WAY outperformed her to put her into the bottom three and then in the bottom three she performed horribly. Other weeks she's gotten by on her wierd vibe and stage antics, but she is being outsung by most of these 4 other contestants. Her and Lukas are in the same boat, they have unusual voices that sometimes sound good and sometimes sound wierd...but they are unique. I think Toby and Magni have more of the whole package (a rock voice and stage presence), and Storm is the best vocally (with less of a rock edge) but her style and voice are not right for this band.

Wow...in the show I have watched, she has completely dominated to the point that posters here have to argue against her and she is the most talked about on here. Did you watch this week? I get week to week mixed up, but I am thinking Dave said her performance was the best of any on either season. She was in the bottom 3 due to her betrayal during the 'clinic'. I do agree she was pretty bad in the bottom 3, but why do you think she stayed? She can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star at this point and she will still win this. Fan voting only goes so far and then it is up to SN and at this point, they can justify any one of these guys.

You may be right and she wins it - I doubt it myself but it's not up to either of us ;) I thought Dave's comments about the best performance in the two shows was a feel sorry for her comment as she was being piled on at some point (well deserved)
If she does win, I don't think I'll spend a minute of my life listening to her vocals.

"Ooh, oh, uh...(jump up and down with feet together)...ooh, oh uh (jump up and down with feet together)....ooh, oh, uh (forgetting the next riff)...ooh, oh, uh (still jumping up and down).
To me, that was some funny stuff.

Feel kind of funny quoting this, but I won't play english teacher here :D
There are movements on stage that I am not overly fond of. However, there are others, i.e. when she makes the eye contact, and involves the audience with her hand gestures, that make her presence more appealing and real as opposed to the canned stage copies of the others.
I just find it intriguing that there are more posts and replies on here arguing she is the best or she is not the best, while the others are merely compared to her.
Either way it falls, I wouldn't even pirate mp3s of these guys and I have some pretty crappy stuff too :o

I won't deny she seems to be getting the most attention, but that doesn't mean she's "dominating". The reason posters here (like me) have to argue against her is because we are shocked that people are so enthralled with her...we just don't see it. It was this week Dave said that and he was WRONG, and she ended up in the bottom three because Magni, Toby and Lukas were better than her this week. And if she sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star like Katherine Hepburn, then she can NOT win this thing...unless SN ignores the vocals and just picks based on her stage presence.

Toby has picked it up the past couple of weeks. Earlier in the season, he was a bit more subdued, but he's bringing it now. That is who I expect to be the winner at this point.
Agreed on Dave being wrong about Dilan. I listened/watched her performance I wasn't overly fond of it even though she did well. Ryan's Losing My Religion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UENIqSWdlzg) and Marty's Creep (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNL2XsXjmmE) are two examples.

no way is Supernova going to be worth the price of good seats.
Many people will go just because they are who they are and I doubt they will have any problem selling tickets or albums. I havent really seen more than 2-3 good performances by everyone combined all season IMO.
I watch to see Dave, Tommy, Gilby, etc....

I'm keeping an eye on tour tickets, but unless the House Band does a reversal and actually tours with them, no way is Supernova going to be worth the price of good seats.
Especially if all they sing is the new material we've been hearing the past three weeks. It's been pretty lackluster. Maybe the songwriting clinic next week will produce some lightning in a bottle a la "Pretty Vegas" last season. But even then, I don't think I'd pay money to see them just sing that stuff for 90 minutes. I'd want some old stuff too, be it old Crue, Metallica or GnR stuff, or some live versions of the covers from the show. If they're going to do some of that stuff, they need to find some way to get the word out about it without insulting their own new material.

Yeah, I had a belly laugh when Gilby said he was giving a song writing clinic.....SN sure could benefit from one themselves:D

These are the exact reasons I struggle to almost turn it off every night. Tickets...maybe not...thanks to the show. Albums....good luck. Even hot artists are having trouble these days with all the file sharing - jason knows how that goes :D I highly doubt record sales are going to spawn a sophmore follow up.

Hate to ask this..but my single tuner TiVo is showing its age (yes I am running out and getting a Series 3 the second I can). "Bones" outranked Rockstar..and I can't seem to find the episode in any of the "usual" spots.
Can anyone help?

You may be right and she wins it - I doubt it myself but it's not up to either of us ;) I thought Dave's comments about the best performance in the two shows was a feel sorry for her comment as she was being piled on at some point (well deserved)
If she does win, I don't think I'll spend a minute of my life listening to her vocals.
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. Dave himself did a lot of the piling on (the previous week) and obviously felt bad about it.
Driving home from weork last night, listening to my Sirius (Spectrum channel) and lo and behold what comes on.....
Psycho Killer
Nice to have the original promptly erase Yoko's version from my mind (hopefully)

Man, I really hope that I am missing sarcasm here!
Dave is somewhat tolerable, the rest I can live without seeing or hearing ever again…
