I am currently running two HDVR2's with a round dual LNB dish. I am using a 2X4 switch and it works great. I want to add another HDVR2 to my spare bedroom. How can I again split the LNB feeds to support another dual tuner reciever? I have been searching the forums, but I am more confused than ever. I was told I could not use splitters. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

You will need to get a second 2x4 multiswitch and connect two of the outputs from the current 2x4 to the inputs of the new 2x4. That will give you a total of 6 feeds. If you need 8 feeds there is another way where you split the input to the multiswitches but since you do not need that right now I will not explain it.

An installer gave me two sat splitters and two 2x4 multi-switches, saying that I could get 8 feeds out of it (I was going to do the install myself). But after a bit of reading I thought I could only get 6 feeds (by cascading the two multi-switches).

I'm off to re-read the multi-switch thread to see if I missed something.

You can split the feeds from the satellite to the multiswitch, as long as you connect both split feeds to the matching inputs on the mutiswitches.

So, if coax 1 is feeding input A on the multiswitch, you use a splitter and get coax 1-1 and 1-2. Attach coax 1-1 to input A on the original multiswitch and 1-2 to input A on the new multiswitch. Do the same for the other.

To get 8 feeds you need to some high frequency splitters that pass power only on one leg. You can not use regular splitters. You split each of the outputs of the dish and connect the output of each splitter to the same input on each multiswitch.

Great to have all this conversation about splitters, lots of cables and connectors, etc. but isn't it just easier to spend $30 or so on eBay for a simple 5x8 multiswitch and be done with it? :) :)
