Is anybody else watching this? I stumbled on the last half last night. I loved the graphic that popped up explaining that potential buyers retain 40% more info about a house when they get a personal tour, meanwhile the agent is polishing her nails. Of course she perked up when a hot guy came through.
I'm looking forward to seeing more.

I haven't seen it, but I did look it up. Is 'Hollywood' the only episode being replayed 100 times or do they all have that description?

Being a broker myself, I can't understand why any decent agent would do one of these shows. No doubt the editors are going to have a field day with the footage and make you look like an idiot. (the blonde girl was likely an idiot before the cameras rolled, so no way to save her there...)
Hey wait a minute, 90% of the agents I work with ARE idiots. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
She misses the deadline on the advertising
She does her nails either while or right before the open house, making the house smell of solvent
She serves champagne at the open house, nice way to open yourself up to liability in someone elses house.
She perks up when the hot guy comes in
Sneers at the neigbors with the HUGE airbags, great way to build relationships in the neigborhood in which you would like to work.
They show her doing no other marketing whatsoever (maybe she didn't), calling past clients, attending office marketing meetings, association marketing meetings, designing and producing advertising spreads, fliers, canvassing local move-up neighborhoods, networking, internet presence, broker tours, staging...nothing. All you get is "I'm going to make $60,000 dollars on this deal....he he he" I woul have liked her to have completed the deal and then showed the lawyer buyer naming her in a malpractice lawsuit and taking it all back. That would be interesting.
She should have said to the buyer that since she was double ending the deal that she would kick in 10k or so to fix the minor problems and make the deal go. Now she has 2 pissed off FORMER clients and out of pocket expenses. She could have had 2 clients that appreciated her efforts and $50,000. Or better yet, when the buyer wanted to buy the house she should have referred her to a friend at another brokerage, told the friend that since she was handing the buyer to her directly, the commission would be 1% to the friend and kept herself out of dual agency trouble.
Friend makes a quick $20k and she's not stuck in the middle where she is unable to make the deal.
Why anybody would call this chick after seeing that is beyond me. No doubt she only got the listing because she was involved with this guy and he probably thought a little TV time would get him laid.
Geez.
Oh, and since I'm on a rant....what's up with House Hunters? I'm sure glad we've brought the agent along to point out to us that this room with the sink and the stove is the KITCHEN! Oh, and thank goodness they told us that this grassy part is known as the b-a-c-k-y-a-r-d. Then let's write an offer and get it accepted and end the show. Duh, if I watch too much of this crap I'm going to start hating myself.

I'm amused by the total misnomer. A "million dollar" listing in LA is a two bedroom ranch house next to the freeway in Studio City.

I caught this last night as well, I was cracking up about it.
"Madison we shook on it" Since when are verbal agreements binding.
I'm not an agent/broker, but, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express:)
I told my wife who is Mortgage Banking she was rolling her eyes, not believe that teh agent was involved with the seller.
I would have agreed to purchase the receptacle covers and anything else the buyer wanted within reason to close that deal!

It was interesting... I'm glad that I could play it back at 1.3x on my MythTV box, though, since the editing left something to be desired at times.

Not sure about the rest as I did not see the show, but in most states, Verbal agreements are binding. Of course, the evidence to back them up is pretty difficult to prove in practice.
