WOW!! This the Rockstar I remembered from last year!!! Magni and Toby really pulled it off tonight!!

Anybody having trouble voting? The site isn't coming up for me.

SN seemed to like lukas again, bet he was just average at best. doubtful this week but hope he gets in the bottom three and they get rid of him. he is a waste of air time.

I broke down and decided to vote for Ryan the 'Dark Horse' but the stupid site just gives me an error. I wish he would have stayed behind the piano a little longer. I don't get their fascination with that gravelly voiced chick. Best performance out of both seasons my ass...

WHY DO THEY KEEP PRAISING LUKAS?! God. He drives me nuts. Crappy, crappy performance.

Hard to pick three bad performances; Lukas and Storm (through no fault of her own, song is WAY out of her range, and Supernova praising Toby for shouting out three word lines didn't help) ... I guess my next bottom three person would be Mimic, I mean Magni, who once again performanced a great karaoke song with no personal touch to it.

I hate to say it because I think she's a great performer, but it's clear that Supernova is less impressed with Storm than the other remaining five. She may be gone, tho I would definetly send Magni or Toby home long before her.

I still like "gravelly chick", by the way. :) Dilana rocks. Will the detractors finally agree with me that this performance proved she has at least more of a range than implied? It may be less varied than Ryan's performances, but we're not paying to see a variety show; we're paying to see a ROCK show, and lots of incredible frontpersons are 'one trick ponies'.

Didn't Dave Navarro praised Toby for that??

Uhm .. two different statements, dude. a) they praised Lukas' performances, which was horrible and b) they said Toby was awesome during Storm's song, when all he did was "WAKE ME UP!" I consider Dave's comments part of the band's, and I'm pretty sure at least one actual member also mentioned it (Gilby, I think?)

EDIT: And of course, you edited your post while I replied, making mine look weird. Bottom line: Both Dave and I think Gilby commented, and there's no difference anyway as the viewers hear "a judge" say it. WTF was the big deal about Toby shouting and popping his little shoulder around?

Yeah, Gilby gave him props after he sung Rebel Yell. Actually, during Storm's song, he also sang the words "I Can't Wake Up" , "Save Me" and "Bring Me Back To Life! :D

No, but we'll all agree that she is the worst of these 6 vocally. One thing comes to mind when I hear her waivering voice..."hello, Willllllbur".

"Best song of both seasons of Rockstar"???? Not even the best song of the night!!! The sad part isn't that Navarro and SN have already made up their minds (obviously with comments like this)...the sad part is that their making it so obvious.

Speak for yourself JackA$$! She is far from the worst and probably easily, the most polished singer up there. AND it really doesn't matter what you like, does it? Singing is not the only facet that makes up the 'performance'. Her vocals are good and rarely off key. But the beauty of D is that she owns the stage and more importantly, owns the audience.

Again I thought Lukas and Dilana did the least to impress. And again, the judges thought the exact opposite. Maybe it is because Dilana started out so well and it is harder to improve? I never liked Lukas all that much. They all did well tonight though.

Toby was my choice to go this week, but I think he saved himself. The Evanecence song was GREAT. And bringing the girls on stage was AWESOME.

I kind of agree with the above that Magni is a copycat, but boy the guy can sing.

Totally agree with Jason Newsted about Ryan. He is GREAT behind an instrument like a guitar or piano. But when he fronts by himself, it is kind of awkward.

Ok, just finished watching:

Ryan was my favorite.

Storm was my least liked.

Toby probably has the best stage presence, that's why he stole some of the spotlight doing backup on Bring me to life.

I don't quite understand all the hate for the gap troll...I mean Lukas, tonight wasn't half bad, I liked his performance better then Storm and Magni.

Dilana just doesn't do it for me, and I didn't see that she "captivated" the audience at all.

My bottom 3 based solely on this week: Storm, Magni, Dilana

Hey, easy on the name calling! Lukas is top 3 easily. Ryan butchered the Coldplay tune.

Storm....yeah I agree

Toby...if the mosh pit, jumping up and down indicates stage presence - yeah hands down. He is just too 80's for me. I realize SN fame came during the 80's/90's but not the duran duran, tommy tutone crap. People are indicating that Magni is a mimic.....Toby isn't? If we are basing the competition on originality, sorry guys....Dilana or Lukas win it!

THE bottom three PERIOD: Storm, Toby, Ryan - in that order

And despite doing a great job with the song Storm stays and despite doing an even better job with his song Magni goes home. He is not comitted to being in the band and wants to go home. SuperNova will let him do that tonight

It's funny because the new Supernova songs sound like 80's retreads. And Gilby's fashion sense is still stuck back in his Heart days. So being too 80's might not be so bad.

My favorites are Ryan and Magni.

But the best fit for the band? I think that goes to Dilana or Storm.

This is when it gets tough. The remaining 6 all are good singers/performers. Who knows what will happen now.

My baby Storm......didn't really do it for me tonight. I guess I was dsitracted by Toby doing backup.

Lukas, though I am not a big fan of his, it was one of his better performances and I have to give him credit for not turning his back to the crowd.

Ryan....I liked it. I wonder how many times he had to practice the "run over to the piano and slide on top right into the bench just at the right moment to start playing piano again" move?

Magni...might be a copy cat, but I thought he did well.

Dilana.......Yeah, she put her emotion into it, but I was waiting for her to take that Flying V guitar and smash it on the stage. Oh well, Pete Townsend moment lost........

So, I didn't vote. I just couldn't make up my mind. The only thing I know for sure is that I liked Storm in that red dress and boots....reminds me of:

Well, I thought Lukas had a great nite ...really liked him last night. Toby does have great stage presence, and I think that's a good part of what SN likes in him (although he's got a great voice too).

Storm was just average....and Dilana's performance was very strong.

I think Magni or Ryan goes home.

Storm is most likely done tonight. She wasn't the worst by far, but the band has already decided they want her gone. Plus, they go crazy over Lukas, so they're clearly idiots. :)

Dilana ruined that song by doing the whole thing in crazyevilDilana mode, but the band ate it up so whatever.

Almost every week as of late, when I hate a performance the band loves it. I'd give up but there are only two more weeks left and nothing else is on yet.

Supernova really does sound like they've already made up their minds and aren't really listening to the songs or watching the performances. Jason seems to be the only one up there that is offering anything resembling insightful.

Based on the comments, it will be Magni or Storm heading home tonight. If it were up to me, it would be Lukas going home.

As expected, we are truly down the BEST six and the real competition has begun last night. Honestly, I can see a case being made for any one of them to go home or stay. Based on last night’s performances, Storm was the weakest (what were her fans thinking?). But Lucas is still my least favorite, so I whish that he can go (and I do realize that this isn’t going to happen :( ).

Dilana could have toned it down a bit in a few spots to better match the lyrics. But overall, I think that it was an awesome performance! She is definitely back on top!

I couldn’t care less who actually fronts this crappy band, I just want to watch good performances (like last night), for the next few weeks. Can we just keep the rest of them until the end of the show? :)

If you didn't arleady know, it's not always about the singing. ;)

I still like "gravelly chick", by the way. Dilana rocks. Will the detractors finally agree with me that this performance proved she has at least more of a range than implied?

Range? That song was perfect for her, allowed her to continue to growl and scream, in the one range she has. She has no other range, that has become evident, even without seeing her try to hit high notes while practicing last week and causing dogs to run for cover.

I think Dave was way too kind to her last night because he felt so bad about his comments the week before. If you read the apology on his website someone pointed out you could see this coming.

What I want to know is how come last night they could show clips of the "webisodes" but last week they didn't UNTIL the voting was over. If people saw Dilana being such a beeeatch last week she would have been voted into the bottom 3. But they don't' show it until the Wednesday show. I'm starting to believe in a few of the conspiracy theories on here.

As for the performances last night, Storm was the worst, again because that song is not in her range at all. All you Dilana fans, picture her trying to sing that song. Impossible and it would have made Storm look like Amy Lee herself.

Here's who should be in bottom 3:

Storm
Dilana
Ryan

Here's who will be in bottom 3:

Storm
Ryan
Magni

Storm should go based on her weak performances as of late, but they have to boot a guy, can't have only Dilana left, which means the guy who I think is the best singer, Magni, will probably go. And that sucks.

"Singing is not the only facet that makes up the 'performance'. Her vocals are good and rarely off key. But the beauty of D is that she owns the stage and more importantly, owns the audience."

Ryan is not a natural performer....everything he does is forced and rehearsed and really...kind of painful to watch.

Add Storm to your list and I say you have the bottom 4.

Final 2: Dilana and Lukas

Mark em Rookies!

Just pointing out your contadiction.

It's a gift.

My point is - by 'butchering' a song.....little s4it is given about climbing on a piano or tossing off a guitar. It has to be at least somewhat pleasing on the ears to begin with.....man I feel like I have am explaining to an 8 year old.

SO....HEAR THIS.....

This is NOT just a singing competition. It is also about stage appearance and fronting a band of veteren (altho sucky, in my opinion) hacks. Ryan butchered the Coldplay song period! Lighting the piano on fire does not make it vocally more appealing....it wasn't very good vocally. Now if you get off on sliding on the piano and for some reason that makes his vocals more tonally on to you....good, so be it....doesn't work for me!

That said, do point out where I contradicted anything.

Jebberwocky!

That said, do point out where I contradicted anything.

Well first you say, and I agree:

Singing is not the only facet that makes up the 'performance'.

Then you claim, and I disagree:

Ryan butchered the Coldplay tune.

My point is that even if I agree that he sang poorly, which I don't, overall his performance rocked, which you don't agree with.

So we agree that there is more than singing - we disagree about pretty much everything else.

I'm sure you will find fault with this, 99% of your posts are critical about something. When you get to my age, perhaps you'll learn something, like you're not always right.

Tobi - Great job but he sounded too much like the original

I actually thought Toby sucked on Storm's song. He didn't sound good at all. He was great on his own song, though. Yeah, he sounded like Billy Idol, but that's good. Dave was "scared" (or something like that) about having to compare Toby to Lukas' "Rebel Yell"? Lukas' Rebel Yell was terrible. As I said in my post in Week 1, before I even knew his name, he didn't even get that, in the midnight hour, she cried "more." He sang "roar," which is just dumb. Toby rocked last night.

I think Ryan is trying to show us that he's nuts on stage, and as a fellow New York Jew I appreciate the effort (;)), but his vocals just weren't that good last night. I just don't like his voice. I want to like him, because he represents my people, who don't get much of a chance to front rock bands, but I just can't.

I thought Dilana was great. Just solid as usual, again showing why her deep voice makes her sound like an 80s-style male rock singer, which is exactly what this band needs (despite Tommy thinking the band needs someone like Lukas in the alternative mold).

Magni was good, but I see where the "mimic" criticism comes from. Every week, he does sound exactly like the original. But he does that really well.

I liked Storm's performance again this week. I though she sounded in tune and dealt with the range of the song well. But I don't think Supernova likes her as much as Dilana and Lukas, so she could go this week.

Lukas, I didn't like. Again. It's Nirvana, which I don't really like in the first place, and Lukas' voice, which I also don't like. He gets points from me for his comments in the webisode, where he said he didn't like the song and doesn't like Nirvana. And, he pronounced Nirvana like any good Canadian would - "van" as in mini-van and Vancouver.

Every week it has bothered me that every guy on that show that has short hair has the same "I'm crazy but not really" hair style. Ryan and Toby especially look ridiculous with it. Ryan looks like a rooster.

Wow man, not to insult your level of intelligence (well yeah what the hell)...you thought you would be funny by jumping on me for stating that Ryan butchered the song. This was long after I laid claim to the fact that singing is not the only facet of this competition. Your contention was what I already stated. You backtrack by claiming you added a smilie thing indicating you were really joking??? yet if you knew I already said there is more to the competition than singing, why would you feel the need to even spout off?

Yes we agree there is more than just singing.....Now that you finally see that clearly, retract your original dig and bugger off!

And yes you had to say I'd find fault with this, as you knew you are clearly wrong and the only way a boy saves face is to try and place blame elsewhere. And...XBox is long after my generation dude - newsflash! I'm a Pong and Pac Man kinda guy.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more, and I don't know how to say this nicely but I'm not sure what you were listening to:

1. Dilana- Fine, we agree to disagree about this one trick troll

2. Storm- Better than Amy Lee? Were you injured as a small child? Ruptered your ear drums with Q-Tips? Listening thru Closed Captioning?

3. Magni did a great job on the Live song, Ryan sang the Coldplay number. Tough song to sing, glad he didn't try to hit the high notes like the original, he can't.

4. Tobi - High energy performance of a song everyone knows and is a virtual sing-a-long. Did you want him to re-arrange it to a ballad?

Yeah sometimes personal attacks are opinion though :D

I gather his opinion of you is that you must have something wrong with you in that you have no idea how to discern good music from bad and as a result, he was inquiring as to any injuries or issues that may have happened to you as a child. Couple that with the fact that you even had a couple singers and the songs they sang, mixed up.....well.....I guess....don't take it personal....it was, afterall, just his opinion :D

My opinion would have differed in that I would have sided more with you in that Dilana is an amazing singer and performer. Storm did do a pretty good job but that A-Hole, Gilby C always rips her - as Jason does Lukas about that stupid throat thing. This does sway the public voting psychologically. The other two.....well, you did kinda mix some things up.

Anyway, it is all opinion on here....Jebberwocky called me 'Old Unwise One', then had the nerve to say I contradicted (when I didn't) then said that when I reach his age.....for real....go read......contradicting himself. He too has an opinion...as irrelevant and ignorant (my opinion) as it is......

so see how me calling his opinion ignorant is also my opinion yet can be construed as a personal attack.......thin line

Me, too! ;)

First of all, I'll point out that about 1 hour after posting this you told another poster "Hey, easy on the name calling!".

You claim Dilana is "probably easily, the most polished singer up there" but then you make excuses for her voice by saying "Singing is not the only facet that makes up the 'performance' ". I agree with that last statement, Dilana's strong point is her stage performance and image. But how you sound is still very important...I'd say it accounts for more than 50% of the package. Sure SN will tour, but I'm sure they will want people to listen to their CD or even get a radio hit or two...stage performance won't Dilana there.

The fact is Dilana's range is limited (have her sing a song like Storm did the last two weeks) and her quivering/gravelly voice gets old. She has Storm beat in the stage presence category (at least for this band), but not vocally. But there are other people who have her beat as far as the overall package is concerned (voice and performance) and that is Magni, Tobi, & Ryan.

Sure this is my opinion, but what's more than just my opinion is that Dilana's performance was NOT the best of both season's...that was just factually untrue.

You know .. the last few weeks, the various trolls on this thread have all but ruined any enjoyment I may have had about discussing this show.

Music, like any art, is subjective, people. Those of you banging your chests with your definitive opinions on who/what is good ... frankly, shut the heck up please.

I used to enjoy discussing the show. Now I just sit back and watch the carnage.

WOW!! This the Rockstar I remembered from last year!!!

Agreed. This is the first time I've been riveted and really cranked up the sound this season. Also the first episode i will probably watch again ..

Charming. Personal attacks are usually frowned upon in here. My hearing is perfectly fine, thank you very much. My opinion is just that. My opinion. I never stated anything as an absolute fact, because in a case like this none exists. You are welcome to your opinion as well. Don't disparage me for mine.

Wow, little sensitive are we? I had to re-read my post a few times to make sure, but I didn't see any personal attacks that might have hurt your feelings. Maybe a little sarcasm and humor in asking about QTip injuries and closed captioning but lighten up Francis.

Now give me your honest opinion, after last night's show, still think Yoko has a good voice?

That was not one of Dilana's better performance. Do I still think she has a good voice? Yes I do. I've likened her in the past to Janis Joplin. They have very similar voices.

IMO the right person went home.

Was I a little sensitive... yes I was. I guess I was just sick of reading the personal attacks towards others in the thread. Your comments towards me were mild. As was posted by others earlier. I used to enjoy these threads. When people feel they can't post their opinions without being called a jackass or being told that their hearing must be impaired because they don't agree with a poster, the thread loses its appeal.

Just my opinion, of course.

Fair enough, no serious insult intended. Now remember, never stick anything smaller than your elbow inside your ear!!

Well, it appears that one of the more vocal (and insulting) posters to the Rock Star thread may have been banned...and gotten a new user name. However, I can't be 100% certain. We can always hope, right? ;)

Sort of work safe. :) I am waiting for her to be voted off so I can read her bio on her website. All this makes me want to buy her CDs.

I usually hop in to pimp for my girl Storm.....but I have a Lukas comment........

I finally figured out who he sounds like to me.....well.....I recorded on my XM2GO over the weekend a "Then Again, Now" episode with Cheap Trick re-playing Budokan in studio. Lukas is almost a dead ringer vocally for Robin Zander.

Relisten to Budokan, or if you have XM catch one of the reairings. Especially on Surrender, it was easy to picture Lukas performong the song.

So, if licensing could be had, Lukas should definitely choose Surrender. That song really rocks out.

And while we are at it, and granted, I love the show, but, hell, Cheap Trick could rock harder than those crap songs Supernova has played on the show. Oh well.

IIRC, Surrender was already a Bottom Three song this year (Storm?). Liscensing shouldn't be a problem.

Lukas should go back to being Clint Howard's lovechild.
