After seeing a thing about this show on Reality Remix, I've decided to check it out. Tonight will be my first episode and I'm really looking forward to it and the celebs that will be on it. Should be an interesting show.

Tonight is everyone's first episode. It's the series premiere.

Why is the Queer Eye guy here? He has been singing on Broadway before he was on Queer Eye. What the hell is the point?

And I liked Dancing with the Stars and Skating with C-List Celebrities!
I'm only up to Cheech Marin, and I don't think I can watch any more...

We (briefly) had this discussion on an earlier thread before the show appeared; I haven't watched and forgot the list, but several of these people have some singing in their history (a few Broadway peformers, Jericho has his own metal band, etc).

It's the first episode?! Well, I'm glad I didn't miss any before it then, but why does it say "for the second time" in the episode description? Hmmm...never mind, now it doesn't say that. I must have been looking at another episode description in the "view upcoming showings" list (yep, just checked them and that's what the next episode says). Oops!

I didn't see Carly perform, but what I saw of Jericho told me that he didn't have what it takes to get to the end anyway. Might as well give him the boot this week and not get his hopes up.

Jai was incredible and Lucy looks amazing, but this show is an absolute trainwreck. Wayne Brady is not a good host for this show. Little Richard needs to lay off the muscle relaxers.
Jericho is my first choice for the lead in a "Team America: World Police" live action movie.
Highlight of the evening: at about 1:38, just when Hal Sparks and the brilliant Gladys Knight finish their duet, Little Richard is almost unable to turn his chair back around.

The point? It's to see how much bad singing I can tolerate, just to see Lucy Lawless. ;)
Allegedly for charity, and notice how they mentioned the charities of the celebrities -- NOT.
Maybe it's because I've sung (just a smidgen) while I can't dance at all, but I seem to have a much bigger tolerance for bad dancing and figure skating than I do for bad singing.
This was so bad, it made me think of what Finesse Mitchell said about watching George W. Bush. He said, you shouldn't be at home watching the President on TV, and saying "Hey! I could be President, too!"
But this show was making me say, hey, I could sing better than that.
I'll watch for the trainwreck, but it won't be anywhere near as fun as SWC or Dancing with the Stars.

Hopefully it won't see a second EPISODE!!!!!
One of the WORST peices of TV I have ever seen. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND CHOSE LITTLE RICHARD TO BE A JUDGE?!!!! Unbelievable. Is he mentally handicapped? It was painful to watch!
Did they not have tryouts? I watched for Chris Jericho cause I've seen his band. I was so embarrassed for him.

This was really bad. Wayne Brady is awesome on Who's line is it anyway but here he was like a bad parade commentator. The singing was all pretty dreadful. And the Judges? Well when you have someone sitting in the middle who makes Paula Abdul seem like a rational human being, then you know that something is tragically wrong.

I'm a terrible singer (though admittedly a musician), but I still completely agree with you - bad dancing and skating is kind of fun to watch, but I couldn't tolerate this.
I think this is the first show I've ever specifically Tivo-ed, and not even FF-ed to the end. I literally turned this off during Cheech Marin, and stopped and deleted the recording. Not even "train-wreck worthy" in my opinion. Just awful.
Glad to see the consensus here was that it was awful. It's fun to trash a truly terrible, awful show.
The show would be watchable if they got rid of the judges, had Wayne Brady do some comedy bits with the celebrities, and had the singers sing. Oh, wait, then it would be a variety hour. Still, I'd probably watch that...

I really wanted to hate the show, but I'm a dork and liked it. :o
I thought the queer boys were good. I was surprised Jai Rodriguez sang so well. He looked quite sexy in his first number. I love Hal Sparks in QAF (he always looked so awckward) and thought he was funny on those I love the 80's and 80's shows.
Carly Patterson, WTF? She was horrible. Her second dress was pretty, but you don't wear that when you have bathing suit lines.
Chris Jericho was eye candy, too bad he's gone.

Y2J was pretty horrible. Little Richard was frightening, it was funny how the other guy judge would have to cut him off after a few minutes.
We will probably watch this since nothing else is on at the same time frame.
Lucy Lawless looked amazingly hot. Yes, she was too skinny and probably had surgery... but wow...

I'd say give it a shot on watching it.
Sounds to me like the people who didn't like it are more or less objecting that the singing wasn't world-class "oh my God, sign her NOW" quality, while for me, it was a lot of fun watching people I more or less knew in another context do something different, and for the most part, quite well.
After all, this isn't about casting Lea Thompson as the lead in Chicago, it is about seeing how well she can sing with musical superstars.
Some people like community theater, specifically because it IS amateur, and while there are flaws, it is great fun to watch people really put their hearts into it. The people who get the most out of community theater understand that the standards are a bit different than for a multi-million dollar movie at the cineplex.
If you only accept flawless performances, skip the show, because most of them really weren't. And Little Richard was frankly weird (funny sometimes, scary others, but pretty universally weird.) But then, duh. I am not sure why he was chosen as a judge, other than to BE weird.
But I thoroughly enjoyed it, and really like the fact that these folks will be pairing up with such a wide variety of superstars from all over the musical map.
Admittedly, it might be musically a lot more fun if they ditched the celebrities and just paired muscial superstars randomly for various duets, in a sort of MTV Unplugged sort of deal, but then you lose the whole "voting them off the island" thing that seems to be the only allowable TV format these days.

I guess I am in the minority, but I couldn't agree more. I am not sure what those who hated it were expecting???? I just thought it was entertaining, summertime- diversion programming.
My only criticism would be the disparity in the talent level of the "celebrity" singers- its pretty obvious who the obvious favorites are (Jai)- probably not much suspense as to who is going win.

DUDE! I was trying to figure out who he reminded me of! :p But the puppets in "Team America" were a little more expressive with their eyes...and there was MUCH better music in that movie! :D
I also agree with those who loved Jai's performance. For a gay man he was incredibly sexy and related well to the women he sang with!

I'm sorry if I spoiled your fun. No, honest, I am. I can try to talk about the things I did like.
I did enjoy some of the performances. I wasn't surprised Jai Rodriguez sang so well because I have the CD of the show he appeared in Off-Broadway:
Zanna, don't! (http://www.zannadont.com/)
I'm just spoiled by watching So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing With the Stars, and even Skating With Celebrities, where the judges gave real notes. Here it seems as if only Marie Osmond is actually trying to give the contestants useful suggestions about how to do better next time. I do give Marie a  for that.
The other problem I have with the show is that it is HARD to sing duets like that. I think this is WAY harder than what the people on AI are tyring to do.
If you are doing stuff solo, you can do stuff any way you like to show off the good parts on your voice. On this show, what happens if you get paired with someone and here you are with his hit song, and you can't sing at all well in the key the song is in?
So I'm some singing wannabee, I am going to tell the likes of Smokey Robinson, I can't sing in his key, he needs to come down to mine? Oh, please. You can't do that, so you're just screwed, and there you are on national TV with your ugly 'I can barely make this note' falsetto ruthlessly exposed. :(
I can admire the hell out of the celebs for trying this, and I can't blame ANYONE for wanting to do it -- who would pass up a chance to sing with Gladys Knight or Smokey Robinson? heck, even I would be tempted -- but it doesn't make for good listening.
In all fairness, I have a friend who is a real dance person, and she can't watch the dance shows at all. Seeing all the flubs there is the same for her as hearing someone reach for a note and almost make it for me.

He is. Your point?
:p
The only thing that really bothered me (other than some bad singing) was the song choices. I don't think they should have stayed within the "real" singer's body of work. For instance, Heard It Through The Grapevine was NOT a good song for Hal Sparks at all. Ditto for Frampton's first song (not that a different song would have helped Cheech that much).
Alas, I won't be watching again.

Actually, the premise as stated in the teasers are that "the audience will be surprised to find out that these celebrities can sing".
By those standards, you could fill the audience with Law and Order fans and bring in Jerry Orbach (if he were still with us) because most people weren't aware he had been on Broadway.
And why not criticize the pro singers? :D
I thought it was pretty lame to rip on Lucy Lawless for not interacting well with Bolton when he also wasn't interacting well with her. Dude, if you don't want to play, don't agree to be on the show.
Lee Ann Womack was really sweet and encouraging to Carly P.

FYI... Hal Sparks is straight.
I thought Jai overdid the acting a bit, but he sounded good. Hal was better than I thought as well. I can certainly see why Jericho was voted off. His first number was awful. He sounded much better on the second, and even better when he was singing after being voted off. Carly had an awful first number as well. She's probably next to go.
I loved Hal's comment about being called too white by Marie Osmond. I don't think she even heard him.
Little Richard must go. He makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and doesn't leave any time for David Foster, who seems to have constructive comments.
It's sad when the professionals hit bum notes while the stars they're singing with are hitting the correct notes. I'm pretty sure Randy Travis was guilty of that.
