Hi All,

I could really use some advice. My brother recently moved out of the country and I would like him to be able to access the shows on my Series 2 Tivo using Tivo to go. I have my Tivo set up on a wireless network. I have been able to successfully download shows to my computer using Tivo to go, but he has been unable to get it to work. (He didn't say what error messages he was getting or whether or not he could see the shows on my tivo) He has my media access number and installed the Tivo to Go software- I know that much.

I should add that I have Verizon, as I saw an early thread mentioning that they block port 80. I really don't no much about networks and know nothing about changing ports or anything like that.

I don't know if this is a network problem, or Tivo prevents this sort of access. I could really use any advice you could offer. I would really like for my brother to be able to have access to American television and I would appreciate any help you could provide.

Thank you all in advance.

if your router doesn't support forwarding how you need to, you can download tons of small simple proxy/portforward programs that will listen on port x and go to port y on the local machine or a different machine. Just do a google.
I like AnalogX's stuff. I think he makes a nice small one.

If the tivo won't let you do it, go buy yourself a slingbox.

My brother has one and gave me the password to see how it works. I was able to log on to his unit, turn the power on on his DVR/cable box (non-tivo Cox SA DVR) flip through his list of recorded programs and hit play and watch them.

It's really a great unit and it worked flawlessly. Picture quality was really good as well...

For what you want to do it is a viable option.
