Before I ordered Directv, I asked if my curent S2 Tivo would work with their system & they told me it would. After they installed Directv & my Tivo, I had to change the channel lineup to show the Directv channels. I went through the whole new set-up with Tivo & I can't get the Tivo to change channels with the DTV box ( it is the directv hd box). I had DTV come back out & they told me that it was hooked up correctly & they don't know anything about tivo & to call Tivo. I called Tivo and they told me to play around with the IR cord and where it's located on the DTV box.Tivo STILL can't change channels & I don't know what else to try.

Also, when I had comcast and tivo was recording, I would just hit the tv imput & switch over to my VCR and watch tv thru the VCR. & I can't do that either. DOes anyone have any suggestions?

THanks

You might try looking for your receiver number in the Cable/Satellite Box Compatibility & Codes List (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=128743) thread. If it isn't listed you could ask there if anyone knows the correct IR code for that HD DirecTV box.
Also, when I had comcast and tivo was recording, I would just hit the tv imput & switch over to my VCR and watch tv thru the VCR. & I can't do that either. DOes anyone have any suggestions? You could do that because some of the channels on comcast were sent as analog cable channels, which your cable ready VCR and TV could tune to and display.

All the DirecTV channels are sent as compressed mpeg digital channels, and can only be viewed with a DirecTV receiver. Unfortunately you aren't going to be able to watch them through your VCR like you used to do with cable.
(You could of course get a second DirecTV receiver to watch while the HD one was busy. Or get a non-HD DirecTV receiver for the TiVo and watch the HD one while the TiVo is busy)

Thanks!!!

Could I buy a directv receiver off ebay and use that?
Would I need to have something running from the dish or could it just be installed from insde from one receiver to another?

The DirecTv dvrs eliminate the stupid IR blaster and all the other associated problems with a 2-box solution. Give them a try. The monthly dvr fee is cheaper too.

I don't know what to tell you other than I do have a Series 2 Tivo controlling an Directv HD Receiver and don't have any problems with it changing channels. I did have to play with the IR a little bit, but it really wasn't much of a problem.

Yeah, the Directivo might be the way to go. Better picture, better use of disk space, dual tuners, cheaper monthly fee.
