Why does 30 second skip code not work?

Does anyone know how to enable the 30 second skip again? It appears this has been disabled in my last tivo update... I've tried doing it during live tv, recorded programs, and can't get it to work anymore. I'm using select-play-select-3-0-enter

When ever your TiVo reboots or restarts, or shuts off in a lightining storm (as mine recently did) the TiVo will revert back to not using the code and default to the buttons factory jump setting.

In live TV, press SELECT PLAY SELECT 3 0 SELECT

How about I just say that I don't think it ever ended in enter... ;)

I've never gotten it to work in live TV either, the 30 tries to change the channel and the code doesn't work.

also the update will reboot the TiVo and reset the buttons as well.

Was 30 second skip ever a 'supported' feature, it's been a non-advertised code for at least 4 years. Officially, they can take it away at any time, but they probably have a pretty good idea of people they'd tick off if they did.

I am more suprised that the 30-second skip is not coded from the factory, and the skip feature (the function that is) is not optional with a code. THe 30-second skip is simply far more useful that skipping to the end of a program IMO.

I haven't had TiVo that long, but I have a faint memory of reading or hearing something about 30 second skip being active in much older versions of the TiVo software.

The lawsuit/debacle/fiasco with Replay TV's option of totally skipping commercials when playing back played a part in it.

...at least since version 1.3/feb 2000. (way before the suit against replay)

I'm new to TiVo in the last month, and am curious about the 30-sec skip. Can someone clarify?... If I enable it, there won't be any way to skip to the end of a program, right? But will I still be able to skip forward or backward to the 15-minute marks? If I don't like the 30-sec skip, is there a way to disable it?

If you enable 30sec skip, you can still do jump-to-tick by going into fast-forward or fast-reverse and then hitting the button. When 30sec skip is enabled, it only happens when you're in normal play speed. In any event, if you want to disable it, just do SELECT PLAY 3 0 SELECT again.

Right, it disables the "skip to end" since it's the same button.

If you don't like "30 second skip" (as I don't),
just follow the same procedure you did to enable it, and it will disable it.
The code is a toggle on/toggle off code.
