It was originally $399, and marked down to $49.00.

It's a Humax DVR/TV recorder with built in Tivo Series two.

The best thing about it is that this unit still qualifies for Tivo's lifetime membership (299.00). They no longer offer this "lifetime" membership, they only honor gift cards that had this, or certain players like mine that are no longer available.

If I were to activate this with the lifetime membership, and then put it on ebay, it would fetch about $500-$575 or so, because of the lifetime membership. Or I could list it like the guy in the link below for $250

Anyways, still a great deal at 49.00 bucks, and the box the kid had to fetch was filled with everything sealed brand new (remote, cables, DVD-RW, manual - all shrink wrapped) - the unit itself was in awesome shape, and still had that plastic stuff over the LCD displays that keeps it mint.

Here is the unit I got, but keep in mind you have to add $299 to that price to get the lifetime membership....

edit: I can't post links yet < 5 posts, but it was a link to a $250.00 Humax DRT400 on eBay

Obviously I'm a newb, but just wanted to share my "great deal". I just wish it had dual tuners! I assume this unit can have the HD upgraded?

Yes, the hard drive can be upgraded. See these instructions: http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/index.php

did you use the 25% off open boxed and clearence items @ Comp? Man could have saved a few more bucks.
My comp sucks for open boxes. They have the pioneer one for $300 woohoo let me just run out and buy that thing. Sheesh they are a lot cheaper on ebay new. And this was beat up. But it was gone in a day!

Hmmm... I missed that extra 25% discount I guess, but they told me it was for the items with the red tags only.... but still you can't beat the $49 price tag, and I am about to call Tivo to see if it qualifies for the $150 Back To School rebate.... maybe!

Found the 25% off on another site...thanks though. Just scored a Pioneer DVR-810H-S for $148 including tax with the discount....brand new in the box!!! Too bad I can't put lifetime on it, but we'll see how the basic works out.....

Regarding the 1st post, I didn't know that CompUSA sold Humax units. Does anyone know of any stores besides Walmart that carries/carried them?

I couldn't find a Humax at Compusa so I decided to take a ride across the road and went in a Best Buy and low and behold there sat a DRT400 open box at $200. I went and talked to an employee and showed them the Compusa 25% off certificate and after a couple call was able to talk them into giving it to me for $150. So after rebate, the net will be $299 for a lifetime Humax box. Got to love the USA...

Well, I got the box home, fired it up and the hard drive started to whine very loud. I reboxed the unit, took it back to Best Buy (Nashua NH) and got my movey back. I then went onto Ebay and picked up an unopened unit for $200, so it's costing me $50 plus the lifetime instead...
