Series 3 TiVo Release Date Competition

I hope nobody minds that I post this here....

I've decided to host a competition on my website (http://www.tivoblog.com/archives/2006/08/29/series-3-tivo-release-date-competition/). Who ever guesses closest to the release date and price for the upcoming Series 3 TiVo will win a prize. The prize will consist of $25 worth of merchandise from TiVo's website....

Once again, I'm sorry if this irritates anybody but I thought it would be a fun competition.

TiVo press releases almost always come out on Tuesdays, so if that 9/17 retail date holds we should see the anouncement on either 9/5 or 9/12

There will only be one winner :). If multiple people select the same winning date and price then I will select a winner from a hat. Actually, I may have my 18 month old so do it but that's besides the point....

Instead of drawing from a hat you should just give the prize to whoever the first person to post the correct date/price. This will prevent people from guessing the same thing as others just for a chance to get their name in the hat and increase their chances of winning.

Y'know, the posted thoughts about releasing Series 3 after 9-11 make too much sense not to be true. Can you at least disclose if it's likely that TiVo will "leak" an announcement about the timing here, before the official release to the media?

There should be a vote on how many bugs will be on the new box when it comes out and what features will not work. Also a vote on how much crap Tivo is going to take for what is bound to be a bunch of Cable Card issues, even though it won't really be Tivo's issue.
