Hey, I dont want to post the links here as it might yet again become even more public.

But I work at a retail store, and employees get like employee discounts and accommodation programs.

But I recently went on a very popular site, and someone posted a MOPS accommodation link that automatically adds one year of service plus a tuner for around $83. And a dual duner for about $155

Is there anything that can be done about this? Tivo loses money and what are employee benefits when non-employees get to use them.

Sorry if that sounds snobby, but the people on the forum said nothing can be done about it, but I wanted to know myself if something could.

They're links that add it to the shopping cart. It says "
Product Accommodation Program"

?? What did I explain wrong?

Basically I wanted to know if Tivo could do anything about non-employees gettng tivo at a employee (Accommodation) discounted price.

I know a lot of people here are paying more than they are, and thats not fair.

Your post is a little snobby. ;)
It reminds me of when people come up to you and say "I know something you don't know!"...in that obnoxious tone.....in 3rd grade.....very annoying.

ah... this is exactly what I wanted to prevent. So I'm guessing a Tivo rep isn't on these forums. Ah well, have fun then I guess.

It is a good deal, but I have a hard time believing those orders actually go through and I'm not about to try.

the web page was found by someone who was not part of the program. TiVo did not have something in place to identify employees vs non-employees. This is a public forum so all you have done is made people go look for the deal.

Not posting about it and providing an employee identifier to TiVo would be the way to avoid it.

What you were complaining about.

That makes far more sense. I'm sure Tivo could do something about it (like require an employee serial number), but may have decided that the additional cost to administer isn't worth it.

I know a lot of people here are paying more than they are, and thats not fair.

OK, doesn't make sense again - what's not fair? That people who post here are paying more for Tivo than those that got the MOPS deal?

There's nothing wrong with discounts available to employees or special groups. But you can't fault people for trying to take advantage of an offer - it's up to the company administering the offer to ensure that only those eligible take advantage of it.

You might have better luck writing Tivo directly or sending a private message to one of the Tivo employees that post here. But you may want to consider having someone help you articulate your concerns.

It was real. Got a new single tunner 540080 with 1 year of service for $83.40. Deal is dead now.

Since all of the hype is on the Gen.3 units, this is a great way to get rid of the old units and build a larger base of customers. They take the subscriber base that is now bolstered by several thousand or tens of thousands to their advertisers and they get more revenue from the ads that are popped up. This can increase their viability as a corporation as well as hook another 10% who will keep their service after this year is up. It is a win-win for both.
