Is there a service available that will modify the code on my Samsung DIRECTV DVRs (had for two years now) such that they can not modify my;
•Channels: You Recive list - I hate constantly having to delete all of the GARBAGE channels they keep adding. It is my list, not theirs! Same problem with my previously used Hughes receivers.

Use the favorite channels list instead.

My understanding is that part of the spec for all DIRECTV receivers, not just TIVo-based DVRs, is that the receiver has to allow DIRECTV to control the list of channels received.

The channels you recive list is theirs not yours. Yours is called "My favorite channels list ". Use it and remove all the channels you don't want to see in the list.

On all DirecTV receivers when DirecTV adds a new channel it will be added to the channel you receive list. All of the junk channels are be dropped and readded by DirecTV.

Channel 95 and 101 have been a PITA as of late. All the switching between MLB, PPV, CDUSA, etc., is a headache especially on the HR10-250 (even on Favorites). I don't necessarily mind so much when the CIR gets changes, but when my Favorites does...that is a PITA.

I know what the Favorites is for. Sorry I asked.

I just miss having three separate custom lists as was available via the remote on my Hughes receivers.

They don't add back to "You Receive" every channel I subscribe to. Mostly it is shopping, PPV channels, bunches of MLB, NBA and other high digit channels. They never add back deleted local UHF channels. Can't say that they have ever tinkered with my Favorites list.

Linux and C++ may be the answer.

I, too, would much prefer they STOP "announcing" channels that are already listed, as I like to browse available shows/movies by title, and find it troublesome having all this trash included in that list. So far, I haven't seen any way to limit THAT listing to "My favorites", though I am glad I can filter the on-screen guide that way. It's just "the man" having his way with us!
