Basically I wanna D/L the Show...convert it to an AVI. and Drop it to another folder other than the default one...anyone figured out a way to change the Outputted Video Folder?

I didn't buy the upgrade but I own an Archos and I saw that no one responded. :(

AVI files for Archos are a kind of MP4, I believe, just like Divx is a kind of MP4. Once you have the file converted to MP4, you can use the software that came with the Archos to make it compatible with Archos' type of MP4. I'm assuming you have tried to play the files and they didn't work.

If you need help Archos has limited online info.

See my signature for Archos video conversion tips (written with the PMA in mind but will work for the AV700 as well). Worth noting that in most cases, you can change the .divx extension to .avi and it will play fine.

The AV700 needs a mpeg4 SP (simple profile) file, basically a divx file with mp3 soundtrack, in an .avi wrapper. Check out the TiVo conversion guide (on my site) if the extension change does not work for you.

As for the default folder... didn't someone find a hack with the xml data? Or was that for something else?

Two things:

1. Not sure if we are allowed to refer to this here, but you can use Directshow Dump (google it) to change the .tivo to .mpg files, and then just copy them to the AV700. I haven't used Tivo content on my AV700 in a while, but I believe the AV700 will display the resulting .mpg files properly. If not, you can use the tools that come with the AV700 to "convert" the .mpg to a .avi. The instructions are in the AV700 user guide.

2. At first I used WMP to transfer video files to the AV700, but some files always failed no matter what I tried. I switched the Archos to hard drive mode and manually copied/pasted the files into the Video folder on the AV700. Every single file now transfers properly and works.

For the record, I would love to have a one-click solution to dump .tivo files onto my AV700 without messing with removing encryption and using third-party tools. If I want to share something, I'll just burn it to a DVD (like I do with Battlestar galactica for my dad in Greece). But I think no company wants to provide such a solution, because then they are required to make it work flawlessly, which they probably cannot do.
