I've looked all over and cannot find the file extension formats that Desktop 2.3 Plus is able to convert to.
My question is, " Does TiVo Desktop 2.3 Plus convert video to DPG ? ".
I see that at http://www.tivo.com/4.9.4.1.asp , mentioned are iPod, Palm, Creative, Nokia, Toshiba and Sony's PSP... but what file format/extensions are they?
DPG is the mpeg2 video file format that Nintendo.DS uses to play videos with.
Using, http://ls5.cydonianknight.com/ , I normally have to manually convert the *.TiVo video files each morning into *.DPG before moving to a 2GB MicroSD card so I can watch them on the Nintendo.DS
...during breaks and such at work (The Daily Show or whatever was on Adult Swim the previous night)
Each DPG file is about 40MB per each 30min show, using VBR mpeg2 compression, aka DPG format.
Any list of TiVo Desktop 2.3 Plus file export extensions would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

No. The TiVo Desktop 2.3 update does include an MPEG-2 encoder filter, but the automatic conversion system does not support using it for DPG conversion.

thank you in advance

I believe it can do .avi, .mp4 and .wmv.

You don't need Tivo Desktop Plus to use Nero Vision.
You do need to free the .mpg from the .tivo file using either DirectShow Dump or VideoRedo ($50).
Read this thread.

Nero Vision will work once you have freed .mpgs, but is slow.

Greg,
Thanks for the help. I have DirectShow Dump but have problems with audio, "clicks" when using Vision. I don't think I have enough computer savvy to use the system in the provided link. Any simpler options or advise when using Vision?
Thanks,
Dave

Hmmm. Not sure. Maybe try out the trial of VR to free your files instead. (Make sure you register it to allow more than 30 minutes of video). Try exporting from VR as .vob file instead of .mpg and use that as input to Vision. I believe Dan has said in the past that helps with audio synching issues. Never heard of a clicking problem before though.

Thanks! I'll try that.

Actually Nero Vision uses DirectShow to decode the MPEG files and reencode them to DVD compliant files, so this is probably a video codec issue. Since the Plus upgrade does include an MPEG2 decoder and MP2 audio decoder it's possible that it could fix your problem. Although not guaranteed.

Nero has its own codecs it installs. I assumed it was using them. Are you thinking it is at the mercy of Windows as well?
From experience, Nero Vision doesn't seem to like raw .tivo files. Freeing it first of course would make having TivoDesktop Plus a moot point. It would be interesting if Nero Vision worked w/o the garbled video/screechy audio bug with .tivo files if TivoDekstop Plus was installed.
May have to upgrade to it just to find out.
