View Full Version : A couple of suggestions

Hi,

I'm still new to the world of Tivo, so its possible that every other user has already suggested these ideas, but...

1) I'd like a button that reads "Do not record this show now or ever - I really like it and give it 3 thumbs up, but I already own the DVD, the extended version DVD, the director's cut extended edition DVD", etc. So far the only way I've found to stop a movie from being recorded is to give it 3 thumbs down, otherwise if I stop the recording it will try and record it again later. I don't want to skew my Tivo's opinion of what shows/movies I like - I just want to add it to the "he's already watched this, no need to record it yet again" list.

2) I'd like to be able to check a box somewhere that reads "Check here to not record movies off of network television channels" so that my Tivo will stop trying to record movies that I normally would like if they weren't horribly butchered and censored by the networks. I'd settle for the ability to go through the list of channels and specify which ones I don't get, those that I do get and should be treated like normal, and those that I get but I don't want you to ever "pick" a show off that network to record unless I tell you otherwise.

I think with those two options I'd be 100% satisfied (as opposed to the 99.8% satisfaction I guess I'll have to live with for now)...

That would be nice feature, and certainly one that has been requested before.
(And not necessarily for movies that people hate. Sometimes it's "I love that movie, but I already have two different editions on on DVD and don't want to see my TiVo waste space by recording the pan and scan TV version).

BTW, even 1 thumb down is enough to stop TiVo's suggestion engine from recording a movie.
But even 3 thumbs down won't stop an autorecording wishlist from recording a movie you don't want. (Wishlists, Season Passes, and Manual recordings all totally ignore thumbs up/down)
