I have Tivo To Go and I was trying out the transfers from my Tivo to my laptop to my iPod. I got everything to work but ever since my first try, my laptop has gotten really slow and often has errors giving it problems when it boots up or crashing while I have it on. Windows popped up a screen and told me the problems were related to my hard drive but it couldn't detect what the specific issue was. It said one of the causes of this could be large file transfers from a media device to the hard drive (i.e. my Tivo).

I have tried to run the chkdsk.exe utility on windows but I can't even get that to run properly.

Has anybody else encountered hard drive problems on their computer because of Tivo to go? Any suggestions?

I haven't heard of TiVoDesktop/TTG causes HD failures. Are you low on free space?

With regards to chkdsk, you'll want to do a full scan with repair. Assuming your running XP, right click on your drive, go to Properties, Tools tab, Check Now button. Turn on both checkboxes and click Start. You should get a message about Windows needing to restart to access Windows file. Go ahead and click Yes and then reboot. During the Windows boot process, chkdsk should kick in and do a full scan of your drive, hopefully repairing any issues.

Tivo 2 Go can't wreck a hard drive, and...that's a very odd error message. Windows shouldn't (and as far as I know can't) give an error like that.

Yeah, do a full scan, also check for spyware, etc.
