Music and Photos with Mac not working

my tivo connects to the network just fine. able to see internet apps like yahoo photo, yahoo weather, podcaster etc.

in bonjour, i see my dvr.

i have tivo desktop 1.9.3 on my imac

i've gone to the firewall settings on my mac and checked off tivo desktop. do i need to edit this to include the ports tivo has listed on their website? i tried doing that..but nothing changed. still no music and photos

do i also have to go to my router settings and forward those ports to my tivo's ip addy? or my mac's ip addy? i've tried both...still to no avail

i'm so confused now because i am so frustrated.

i even disabled my firewall temporarily to see if that was the issue but i still couldn't see my music and photos on my tivo!

please help. i would really really really appreaciate it!

Using Bonjour Browser, do you also see your Mac sharing your music and photos? Is your TiVo and Mac on the same subnet? Does your TiVo even see Mac, but not play your photos or music? Can you browse to your TiVo Desktop from another machine?

I'm having a problem with TiVo Desktop 1.9.3 and 1.9.2. In the TiVo Desktop there is a 30 second pause between the request and response. I can browse from another computer to my Mac hosting TiVo Desktop and the same problem occurs so it's not a problem on the TiVo box.

Making browser requests from the same Mac hosting TiVo Desktop the responses come immediatly after the request. There must be some sort of networking issue that I can resolve. I've even tried installing 1.9.3 on another Mac but it still has the same problem.

Trash your preference files for photo and itunes.

TiVo and my mac are on the same subnet.

On my tivo it does not see the music and photos server at all so it doesn't see my imac.

in the past i've been able to to get music and photos to work with a pc. i no longer have that pc so i can check to see if it still works..but i'm pretty sure it would.

so i know that probably means some setting on my mac needs to be tweaked. i just really don't know what.

on my firewall settings i let through:
ichat bonjour
itunes music sharing
iphoto bonjour sharing
network time
tivo desktop
in tivo desktop i put in all the ports the tivo support site listed.

in bonjour the only things listed are "about bonjour" and my tivo

i don't know what to do next...

ok. well now i got my music to show up!

could it have been bc there was a discrepency in the naming? itunes shared name was different than what was listed in the tivo desktop....

i still only see my tivo listed in bonjour, nothing else...

now how to get my photos to show up...

Bonjour Browser is a piece of freeware that shows what services are advertising themselves on the network. You can find it at www.versiontracker.com

In the TiVo Desktop preference pane does it show that it's "On" and both "publish my music" and "publish my photos" are checked?

Do you have any unusual characters in the computer name (as displayed at the top of the Sharing Preference Pane)

yes i definitely double check to make sure the tivo desktop is on and checked off to publish my entire itunes library and all my iphotos..

hmm..i dunno what i did. but i just got photos to work too.

well thanks for all the tips everyone! i really appreciate it. :)

now just have to wait for my DT tivo to arrive and then i can modify my 40 hr and try out that tivotool i've read so much about... :P
