When I transfer a video recorded in "High" quality on my Tivo to my PC and use Sonic to get it to a DVD, is the video on the DVD the same 'quality' (res, bit rate) as the original recorded on my Tivo? Or, is it 'lowered' to 'fit' some DVD requirements?

Can I be certain that is a transfer completes between Tivo and DT on my PC that the resulting video file is 100% correct even if my PC has been shutdown/rebooted/powered off, etc? Is TivoDesktop resilient with respect to WinXPsp2 restarts?

Thanks,
cs

I'm going to guess that even at Best quality, the image from the tivo is going to be less than DVD standard quality when burned to a DVD.

The tivo itself can only do a certain resolution max, i think 640x480, and that is well below DVD resolution.

I'm pretty sure that High quality files get transcoded to fit on the dvd. I think medium and one other level(not sure which) are the only two that get recorded in a dvd compatible format.

As for desktop and reboots, it seems to recover okay, but you really should minimize those kinds off issues.
