If you have ever had a problem with any part of your TiVo hardware failing then please let us know what it was.

Vote for the failure above. This is only for Series 2 TiVos.

If its not listed then post it

What about an option for no failures?

None of my Series 2s that I am or were running have failed in my use other than due to user incompetence (ID 10 T errors).

The poll assumes that I've had a defect problem with one of my s2 tivos, but i've had zero problems.

When I was loading all my entertainment stuff after we moved, I apparently knocked the ribbon cable from the power supply to the motherboard loose. This was our first box that had 2 160GB drives in it.

Had another one (60 hour I bought on EBay) that just quit altogether, but since it was less than a year old and had lifetime, I exchanged it for $75 and got an 80 hour "nite lite" version back.

If its not listed then post itdon't you think that perhaps you need a line for 'no problems'? i have two 540's. one is 18 months old and the other 12 months old and have yet to experience a hardware problem with either of them.

What about an option for no failures? That would be my choice. 4 TiVos zero problems.

Replaced the fan because it became too noisy. Other than that. zero problems. Hmm, fan is not in the list either.

I've replaced 3 hard drives in my TiVo. The original plus 2 additional drives.

No failure. Since the poll only tracks failures, I can't vote.

None. Had one TiVo for over 2.5 years, and another for about 2. No problems.

No problems, no failures, 2 Series 2 machines, an 80-hour (upgraded) activated in Feb 2003 and a 40-hour stock activated in Oct 2003.

Thanks everyone who's joined in on this so far.

I know TiVo are pretty sturdy machines so I know most people won't have any problems. I'm looking here to find out when a problem does occur what exactly it is. I had my assumptions so wanted to see if they were actually true.

I think using the word "defective" for each choice is a little harsh. Just because a part fails, it doesn't mean it was defective. To me "defective" implies some fault on TiVo's part.

Had a fan go bad (bearings) but not really defective.

The video out on one of my two Series 2 Tivos is losing the color signal. Starting from a reset, things are fine for a few hours. Then, over about a five minute period, the three primary colors will each start fading away (at different rates), until finally the picture is in black & white. If I reset the Tivo (don't need to cycle power, just reset it from the menus), the color comes back, and then I'm good for a few more hours.

I had a hard drive die in my Toshiba DVD-RW unit, and the power supply died in my Sister's S2. Other then that my experience with S2 TiVo's have been very positive. (I have 6 myself, and another 6 spread among family members)

The fan in one of my 2 SD units failed within 6 months; I'd put that to a defect. Otherwise, they've been fine for the 4 years I've had them.

The only failure that comes to mind is the audio was missing from one of the C|net downloads.

I had a Series 1 that had some problems, but both my Series 2's continue to work great!
