Here's my problem. I recently bought an LCD Flat Panel HDTV. Since my TIVO is not HD compatible, i've hooked my HDMI/DVI cable from my cable box to my tv. I've also hooked my digital optical cable from cable box to home theater. This allows me to view HD without going through the TIVO. PIcture is great, sound is great. When i switch to using TIVO though, my sound is about 2-3 seconds ahead of my picture.
Here my setup:
- Cable to Cable box
- RCA and Coax from Cable box to TIVO
- RCA and Coax from TIVO to TV.
I'm thinking that i might can run my digital optical cable from cable box to TV and back to Home theater system and that might slow the sound enough for it to match my TIVO. Any suggestions?

This is actually a common problem with many HDTVs. I would recommend running both the audio and video lines in parallel. I'm not sure why you're using a coax connection or even RCA for your video output from the Tivo to the TV. You should be using the best output available which would be the S-Video connection.
You may want to see if your HDTV manufacturer has issued a firmware upgrade for your set as a fix for the audio/video lag issue. Check over at the AVS Forums for details on your particular make and model to see if anyone has had similar issues and also to see if there's a workaround for it.

You need to get the analog sound from the TiVo when you are watching the TiVo rather than the digital optical cable. If you do not do this, then you will not be able to watch recordings from the TiVo with sound.
The TiVo does create a delay because it encodes the programming and records it to the hard drive. Then it reads the program from the hard drive and decodes it. This inserts a delay that you are seeing. This process is done even when you are watching live TV.

It might just be the RCA cables without the Coax. So would i see a big impact in my quality of picture if i use the s-video cable? THanks for the help.

Use S-video cables to the TiVo. This will give the best picture quality.
