Help.

I've spent three hours trying to get my IR blasters to work with my Dish RCA DP301. I have moved them closer and farther out, tented with foil, and nothing.

I found an old post about DISH 301 that suggested sending the IR through the side vents. I tried that without success.

Now here's the kicker. An online post said that the RCA DP301 and the DISH 301 were basically the same. So I started at the beginning of the test menu and said I had a DISH box instead of RCA. Guess what? The IR blasters worked on the first three channel changes, but would not work on any more of the tests or troubleshoots. When I say I have an RCA box, I get nothing. When I say I have a DISH box, I get three channel changes, then nothing.

The message that comes up is "You are not authorized to view this channel." Even for channels that I am subscribed to. Is this part of the ongoing DISH v. TiVo war perhaps?

Anyway, any suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.

Does your TiVo allow you to adjust the speed at which the IR pulses are sent?

I don't know... its a 80 hr reconditioned unit that TiVo gives free with a year's subscription. I still cannot get the TiVo and Dish unit to interact, and TiVo does not download the right program guide for my Dish service. Very frustrating. How do I check if I can adjust IR pulses? I went to Radio Shack to buy a new IR blaster and they just gave me blank stares. Claimed to not know what an IR blaster is.
