Setting up Wireless connection...HELP

I tried to find the answer to this but I couldn't so basically I moved into an apartment where I won't have phone service since I use my cell phone and last night I tried to hook up my tivo...when it ask me for my wireless internet name a whole list of other wireless networks pops up but none of them are mine ( I have a linksys usb adaptor)...so my question is if I create a new network where do I find the password at that it is asking for or will my tivo still work if I connect to one of the other network names already listed?

You need to connect to your wireless router. I am assuming that you have one of those?
Whatever you named your network when setting up your router is what you need to enter.

The other networks you are seing listed are simply those of others in your apartment building.
