I have a humax? series 2 box, wirelessly broadband connected, and since the kid zone was put on as an "upgrade" my box is slower than snot dripping from it's kidzone nose. Even changing channels is a slow proccess. Is there any way to remove this so called upgrade? I don't have kidz, and I don't need or want this feature. I read the message and I didn't activate it, but the box remains slow.

Maybe Tivo in the future tivo should ask the customer if a new feature is something they would want before just forceing an install on them. I love all the other features that come with being connected to my braodband, and don't mind them installed on my box, but this is one tivo dropped the ball on. Sure it might be a great idea for someone with kidz, but not everyone has, or wants kidz. Now as a result of having this forced on me, I'm suffering with a pvr that just ain't the same 'ol box.

The slowness is a known problem with the update. Hopefully in the next update (hopefully not long off) they will fix this problem. I'm sure it is nothing more than sloppy or inefficient code somewhere so it shouldn't be hard to fix.

No, you can't remove the update. TiVo doesn't want us all using different software versions so they require us to take the updates and keep them. Really it makes sense - they don't want to (and probaby couldn't anyways) have to provide support for every version of the software they have ever released.

I had a slowness problem after the update, and rebooted my Tivo twice. I am no longer having an issue.

Welcome to the 7.3/7.3.1 update.

After a week and a couple reboots you will see a small improvement in the speed, but it will still be quite slow.

Yeah I have the 649 DT and I had not tried to send a converted AVI with TivoGoBack to this new unit yet. But I only encoded the file with 2Mbit and the resulting file is about 400MB, 30 minute program, and it took some 3 hours to fully transfer to my tivo.

However today I tried pulling a tivo 30 minute program, about 800MB from the tivo to the computer and it went in about 15 minutes (aka: normal). Anyone else having similar issues?

Wow! No, I ma not having that problem. I encoded a DVD and tx it to the TiVo. Almost 2HR video only took about 50 minutes to tx.

This really pisses me off. As a software engineer I know how hard it is to create decent software, but the fact that TiVo rolled out this crapwad knowing about the slowness it induces is just unforgivable. I will not be recommending Tivo to friends from now on.

I've had 2 reboots (not by choice) and it's still slow. Hopefully it gets better after the next update. My series 1 box was lightning quick with 240gigs of space. I had a problem with it, and had to buy a series 2. I wish I could find someone to fix my series 1.

No slowness here but what a waste of programming resources. I HAVE kids and Kid Zone seems like a complete waste. How about more important upgrades like conflict resolution for households with two or more boxes. What about T2G for Mac.

Jeez, get your priorities straight Tivo!

I have had the upgrade for about a month now, the Tivo's been restarted several times, and granted it's picked up speed, but it's hardly "back to normal." The banner issue (where the banner hangs every time you start a show) is still there, as well as the THUMBS UP/THUMBS DOWN function from within a program (you can press the buttons, but nothing happens, the banner just flashes on and off really quickly).

I would never have said a bad word about Tivo ever had this upgrade not occured. What makes it worse it that Tivo hasn't mentioned a thing about it, or even apologized about it.

Clearly they weren't ready to release this update (if they thought that these problems were small, then they really don't understand how much people like their service). My opinion of the company has dropped quite a bit since then. I wouldn't currently recommend Tivo to anyone, because they'd receive this update and wonder why their DVR doesn't work right.

I realize it takes time to work the bugs out of software, but this never should have been released.

My guess is Tivo rushed it out to be prepared for the Fall Television Season.

It would be nice if Tivo at least explained that they're aware of the issues and are working to solve them and will be giving us another update as soon as possible.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents about what a load of crap it was for TiVo to dump this pile of s*%! update on us.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. This has pissed me off, but still can't live without my tivo. Maybe that's why they relesed it, knowing that loyal tivo fans would find a way to cope.

I dunno what to do, except deal with it till they fix it..

I am looking for someone to fix my series 1 box. Someone who knows more about it than I do. PM me. maybe we could work something out.
