currently we have 2 std tivo's and 1 hdtivo with 1 line into each. would a multi-switch allow us to get up to 2 lines into each tivo? our line run is 150 ft of buried cable, so more real lines are not an option. the svc tech said 4 lines are needed to do this. correct?
thanks.

Short answer: 4 lines are needed.

Long answer: You may be able to get away with only 2 lines. It depends on what kind of dish you have. Read the LNB and MULTISWITCH FAQ's (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=466048&&#post466048) for all the details.

If you want to be able to access all the available satellites,
you need 4 for a triple LNB dish, 5 or 6 for the new 5LNB dish (not sure on that one)

You can get by with less, but you'll not have all the channels.

I was told by a D* tech, only 4 lines on the new AT9 5 LNB dish.

The AT9 dish only has 4, just like the old Phase III dish.
