View Full Version : Freeview box crash - missed Silent Witness!

I don't know what it is about holidays, but just before every holiday I am compelled to make some fundamental change to my home network or entertainment. This year a few days before going away, I changed from cable TV to Freeview. We live about 5 km from a transmitter, so reception is very good, and I'm bored with paying NTL for something we don't really use.

On the back of previous good reports in another thread I got a couple of Thomson DTI-2300 on the web, and set it all up. All fairly smooth. Took some time to remember that during guided setup you have to change to another type of connection and then back again to get it to ask what sort of STB you have.

Having come back from holiday it seems that both boxes crashed about 12 hours after we left! They had been rock solid until we left so there we go, it's one of those things.

So 2 things come from this:

1. I will be putting the freeview boxes on the mains timer I had for the cable box to switch them off and on again at 0400 every morning. The DTI-2300 come back to their last channel on switch on so that should be fine.

2. I have not recorded Silent Witness (Supernova) from last Sunday and Monday. This means I am in trouble.

Does anyone know if it will be repeated soon?

Does anyone have any great ideas (perhaps etivo related) on how my wife could see this episode?

My PM and ftp is active, and my grateful thanks await...

Cheers,

Dave
