I am posting this on behalf of my firends who have HR10-250 and a Magnavox Plasma TV. They used HDMI-DVI connection to TV and are experiencing a strange issue. If they turn off TV for extended (i.e. several hours) period of time, the tivo dies. When asked for details on what does "die" mean, they said - snow on TV when turned back on - tivo does not record - the only way to bring it back to life is to powercycle the tivo.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I dont have HDTV in any form so I dont know what to offer them.

Thanks.

It may be a bad HD Tivo, but it sounds like an HDMI handshake problem btwn the TV and receiver. That is a known problem with certain brands, but I don't know if Magnavox is one of them. Have your friend chk w/Maganvox to see if this is a known problem and if there is newer firmware available.

The fact that the HD Tivo "dies", though, is really unusual and, once again, may be a bad receiver. If your friend has component inputs on his TV, have him try that.
Many posters say that they can't tell the difference btwn HDMI & component.

I would not be surprised if it is the TV, it seems to be a cheap one. I did sugest using Component in, but she said she does not have a free port (something else is connected to component input) so she is hellbent on using HDMI. I will have her check out Magnavox support.

Thanks.
