Tivo cannot connect with program service.

My Tivo, with DirecTV, says it cannot connect with the service to download more program data, so, no Guides, no advance recording, etc. The phone line into the Tivo is alive and well. Now what?

This assumes that you have a standalone TiVo that is connected to a DirecTV receiver. DirecTV TiVos get their guide data from the satellite.

Go into phone setup and make a test call. This should give you a better idea of where the problem is.

The modem in the TiVo is sensitive. It should have a phone line surge protector on it. The TiVo itself should also be on a UPS. Have there been any storms in you area recently?
