View Full Version : How can I determine what model Tivo a drive came from?

I need to replace a bad drive in my travel tivo, so I went to my stack of older drives. Uh oh. I didn't label them.

I seem to recall there is a file that tells what model (ex. GXCEBOT) the drive was installed in, but I cannot remember. I could just take an image and make a new one, but if I could just drop one in and erase and go, that would eat the least amount of time.

Little help, please?

Thanks.

An easy way is to just put the drive in a TiVo, boot it up and check the System Info screen. It'll show the model number of the drive there. I moved a drive from a SD-DVR40 to a DSR7000, and the system info screen says the machine is a SD-DVR40.

Check /etc/build-version on the 4 or 7 partition. The software version is in that file, with the platform build version.
