hi all. I sure you all have heard this questions many times before but I am thinking of buying a Directv HD Tivo but when I'm watching regular channels like Scifi or TNT or even regular PPV movies dose the HD Tivo unit up convert the signal to an HD or near Hd quality if i run it from the HDMI output to the DVi input of my HD LCD Tv? Basically my Right now I have the standard definition Directv Tivo using my S-video conection with a separate OTA HDTV tunner for my locals.

It does up convert to the resolution you put the unit at...

But the Quality doesn't change (it doesn't do any fancy line-doubling or image corrections)

You would see the same picture as you would out of an SD unit (maybe marginally better, but nothing earthshattering)

well i think anything improvement over the regular S video connection is an improvement. I've been using my SD Direc Tivo over S-video for the past 8 months and after getting my OTA HDTV reciver I'm starting to look at my old Tivo with the Evel eye :) . Right now I have my OTA reciver to only output everyting including SD channels it picks up to a 1080i format. Dose it like anything like that?
