I just wanted to say a big "thanks" to blindlemon (aka Tivo Heaven etc) for helping me out.

I upgraded my Tivo about 18 months abo with a nice shiny 200Gb drive. Unfortunately, in the last few weeks, Tivo has been showing symptoms of incipient drive failure. As this was outside Tivo Heavens 12 month warranty, I agreed to purchase a second drive (Seagate can replace the duff one for me later!) but blindlemon did offer to waive his normal disk copying fee for copying my old disk to the new one (it's half full of recordings I didn't really want to lose......)

Well, little did he know what he'd let himself in for

The "few hours" copy has taken almost 2 weeks to complete (that old drive is obviously in a REALLY bad way). Blindlemon could easily have said "sorry, I can't do this" and I would have had no complaints, but he persevered and today the copy FINALLY completed and the drives are on the way back to me

So

:D THANKS A BUNCH!!!!

I owe you one

I owe you one

I think you just have.

Kudos like that is hard to come by. Good feedback like that is a godsend.

Only problem now is that if everyone uses BL, then he'll have too much work on lol

Glad your sorted in the end and back in TiVoLand once again.

I've never tried it, but Spinrite (http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm) will supposedly recover a TiVo drive. Technically, it makes as much sense as any software solution could. I think that it changes tracks from different directions and distances until it can read the data, in the hope that it can bounce the drive heads back over the data tracks when they are a little too slack, or otherwise misaligned.
