View Full Version : Tivo not remembering program place

Recently I've been having a weird problem where my Tivo will not save the place I am up to for certain programs. I can't see any pattern in when or why it happens - although it did happen on two consecutive episodes of One tree Hill recently (no I don't watch it - it's for the gf honestly!)
Anyone know what causes this?
I realise that if you put Tivo directly into StandBy while watching a program it will not save the place (I assume this is a known bug) - but pressing the TiVo button has always saved the place for me previously.
Any ideas?

That's funny, I've just started getting the same thing. A lot of the time, when I stop watching a programme part-way through by just clicking on the left arrow to go back to the menu, and go back on a later occasion to wach the rest of it, I should get "resume playing" but instead I just get "play" which means starting again at the beginning. I've been trying to work out why it sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't but I can't find anything to correlate it with.

Funnily enough I've just started to see the opposite, namely that I'll go to watch a recorded program for the first time and I'll have "resume playing" with the play bar being located about half-way through the program.

It will only save the place if you start watching the programme from the Now Playing menu. If you start watching it from the live buffer (while it is still recording), it won't remember your position.

I realise that Ian, and it's not the cause - I'm definately watching it from the Now Playing menu. And it is repeatable - the same 3 shows don't remember every time I try and watch them - but all others work OK..... weird, very weird.

How embarrassing, over the weekend I realised that this was exactly what was happening - I thought my kids were watching the recordings of kids' TV programmes in the mornings but I discovered they were in fact watching the buffer. Apologies all round and it looks like you're on your own, Obo.
